We’ll see how this works out, but I love the idea. They’re at least on paper clearly defining everyone’s roles and boundaries.
Sounds like Briere will have final say on the roster and Hilferty and Camillo work with Jones on the business side.
If this is actually the way they’re going to operate I think it’s great.

The decisions themselves aren’t exactly awe-inspiring for a team whose biggest flaw was too much reliance on old guys who come from within the organization. The optics on this are discouraging.
That said, what will make or break this team is having a good GM and having a front office committed to long-term sustained success over short-term improvement. If Briere, Jonesy, Hilferty, and (to a lesser extent) Tortorella are on board with that philosophy and prove to be good at their jobs, we will succeed under this structure. Reliance on analytics, commitment to drafting well and developing effectively, prioritizing smart roster building and cap management over “Flyers culture,” these are the things that will turn us into a true contender.
And we all need to accept that it’s going to take a while if done right. We all keep saying “3-5 years,” but we need to understand that it’s probably closer to 5 years simply to start to look competitive again. It’ll be more like 6-10 years before we truly have a shot at the Cup. Look how long it took Tampa, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Washington, etc. to win a Cup after their rebuilds started.
Effective management is key to success. Patience from the fan base is key to our sanity. It’s better to be great in 2030 than it is to be good in 2026.
