If he doesn’t re-up in Toronto, offer him ownership. Toronto has a few issues obviously, he is not one of them.
Dubas will have the pick of the litter when it comes to the available GM jobs and tbh, the Calgary job is likely one of the least desirable.
We have a hands on owner who refuses to look past one year ahead in terms of team building. And we have an aging, capped out roster, that is about to have half our good players leave in free agency next summer. Not to mention our prospect pool is one of the weakest in the league.
Dubas would likely just use the Calgary offer as leverage for the Pittsburg or Toronto job.
If he becomes available (which I don’t think he will, Keefe on the hand maybe), every team that has a vacancy for the GM spot will throw everything to get him, I don’t think Calgary is in a good position considering our core is locked for multiple years, similar to Toronto
Meh, I’d rather have Tulsky anyway. And if he wants more autonomy, then Calgary very clearly isn’t gonna work out for him, at least not under current ownership anyway.
Also, I’m not sure why people think Pittsburgh is all that desirable. Their core is old and on the decline and they have very little on the way in terms of futures; they’ll be full out rebuilding in a few years. Anyone taking on the GM position of that team is basically acting as a caretaker until then, at which point they’d probably clean house again anyway.
