Holl’s money is going to go to Schenn. There’s no way we can afford him now.
I was saying it all year and I know a lot of people around here agreed but Schenn’s current form at 5on5 is a top 4dman.
I still hope he comes back to Van and closes out his career here. He might get someone giving him a short term payday in free agency though.
I’d be willing to give him a 4yr deal with full NTC at 1.125mil. But he might get better shorter term deals put on the table. I’d imagine the security of staying out in Van/Abbotsford would be welcomed though after all of the bouncing around he’s done in recent years.
Everyone loves Schenn but his analytics were not good this season. One example from Vancouver Is Awesome ratings a few days ago:
Luke Schenn – C-
First Half: C-
Second Half: C-
Final Grade: C-
Luke Schenn gets high marks for character and leadership. His honest, hard-nosed game was appreciated by both fans and his teammates. He’s an absolute gem of a human being. But boy do his numbers look bad.
Schenn dragged down everyone he played with this season, including Quinn Hughes. When Schenn and Hughes were on the ice together at 5-on-5, the Canucks had a 46.33% corsi. Do you know how hard it is to have a corsi below 50% while playing with Quinn Hughes?
Schenn even struggled on the penalty kill in the second half of the season with one of the highest rates of unblocked shots and goals against.
I know Canucks fans love Schenn — heck, I love Schenn — but even considering his league-minimum cap hit and that he was asked to play more difficult minutes than he really ought to, Schenn just wasn’t very good this season.
He’s not coming back.
Nah, let’s get younger. I’d rather see McWard and Woo battle it out for the bottom pair RD/depth spot. Alongside everyone’s favorite tank commander. And Burroughs, who has been pretty good.
Guy has earned a bag. Likely not with us due to our cap situation, but wishing him the best.
All i want is for him to sign where they pay him the most……. AND when he comes back to Vancouver, we play a tribute video for him showing all his hits in a Canuck uniform. I don’t care if it is two hours long- he deserves it!
Dream bigger than Luke Schenn
I still hope Schenn comes back, Toronto probably retains him but I imagine they will also be trying to bring back ROR and some other depth pieces so they will likely offer him the Spezza/Gio special.
While it would be preferable for us to find a better Hughes partner, Schenn would still be a valuable 3RD for us, partner with whichever of our young Dmen break camp on the left side.
Half the league has a home in Kelowna. And no, he’s no where near a 5on5 top 4, and if he was, he’d be too expensive anyways. Let it go.
I really do feel like Schenn will be back with Canucks as a 7th D man to mentor the kids. He has to much ties to Vancouver for him not want to just retire here then he does with Toronto or any other place.
