Canes fan here, and I have to say that NJ looks like they're worn out. I'll grant you that the Canes are a good defensive team, but cheer up NJ fans. CAR hadn't gotten to the playoffs in nine years. Rod has instilled a new work ethic, culture, and desire in the Canes. The difference is like night and day. You haven't been in the post season for a while and have many y0ung players. Give it time and don't get down on the Devils. I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the Finals within five years, if not sooner.
Burns is also a superstar that man eats minutes and he is reliable the canes rely on their D a LOT to say the least and he does his job really well I mean like Brind'Amour obviously shows the team how to use the D as their greatest weapon 59 goals from the D in reg season that is like 25% of their goals btw
The disrespect by the national media, the overall blatant favoritism being shown from people like PK Subban, Mark Messie, the insulting quips from Sean Mcdonough, It just makes me sick but at the same time I can look now and see that my Hurricanes are outworking their opponents. I'm not talking about in just the game. Stanley Cups are not won in the post season. They are acquired. They are not won during the Regular season. You simply are setting up and positioning for the playoffs. Its not won during the pre season. There you are simply making sure everyone is on the same page. No, a Stanley Cup is won during the off season. When your 52 year old head coach requires you to show up in preseason ready to play game 7 of the Stanley cup playoffs, when your 52 year old head coach has a work out regime that puts many NHL veterans to shame, and when your team all buys in…You find yourself beating NJ 6-1 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in round 2. The player that exemplifies it the most is Jordan Martinook. Here is a guy that has had to overcome so much in injury and now as an alternate captain is tearing the ice up and making whole teams look weak. This is what Carolina is all about. Yeah Jack Hughes is great. But NJ paid Dougie Hamilton 9 million. He WAS a hurricane. Why did the canes not pay him? NOW NEW JERSEY KNOWS WHY. DEFENSE FIRST. If your not willing to play it than simply go play for someone else. If your not willing to put in the time during the off season go play somewhere else like Eric Haula. We would rather have 20 average to above average players who buy in and care for one another than a Jack Hughes and his brothers and a bunch of soft, vets who want to simply draw a paycheck instead of earning it. Good luck tonight….your gonna need it
