As a deep hard Montreal fan, I don't understand people enjoying other teams struggle (at least when it comes to Canadian Franchises… I could careless about Boston).
Obviously we have a hockey rivalry and Toronto isn't the first team that I'll be rooting for but I was definitely rooting for them against Tampa Bay and even more against Florida since if Florida win then our 1st round pick from them is going from #17 to #25+.
Hopefully Toronto can turn things around which sounds like an impossible mission to me looking how their stars players are playing. Even Tampa in the first round dominated most of the games beside game 2 I think?
Anyway a change is needed in Toronto. I'm not really sure where exactly to start first but I think getting rid of Keef and looking at someone like Gallant is a good place to start. After that, if your top players constantly under-perform in playoffs then you have to consider moving them eventually…
Not winning shit with this core. Not a thing that matters anyway. You don’t hear former players reminiscing about their Selke trophies or Rocket Richard trophies. Do whatever is necessary to trade out 16 and 34 to get top value in return. It’s delusional to think Matthews will sign again, and not should he be offered another 12 million per and get nothing but one round won. Dubas and Keefe have to go ad well and just start another rebuild. This is objectively the right course of action.
On the upside: Good it's not been Holl who was defending on the ot winner. Leafs nation would have lost their minds. Good it was McCabe & Brodie, so everybody can stay calm & keep pretending a 2m player is the Leafs' biggest problem. Losing with the other bums on the ice is a way more relaxed experience. I don't need to defend Holl against death threads the next day, and the insane hate on one player is not occupying the internet. Great and very comfortable way to lose, I'm enjoying this kinda loss a lot 😍💙🙏

Leafs fans have every right to complain about the refs after the crosschecks on Bunting's head. Then a punch, head slam into the boards & then choke slam onto the ice to Knies for a 5K fine on Bennett. I'm a Bruins fan but watched Tkachuks crosscheck into Hathaways kidneys then Bennett hit him in the balls with his stick to make him obsolete for the rest of the playoffs. High stick no call to Pastrnak's face. As soon as McAvoy layed out Tkachuk the refs were constantly penalizing him for everything after that. The Panthers commit so many tripping, holding & high sticks that the refs just stop calling when they get up to 5 or 6 penalties. I was routing for the Leafs but it's going to take risking an ejection by someone to go after Bobrovsky like Tkachuk went after Ullmark. The Panthers backchecking is fantastic causing so many turnovers & Leafs need to do more stretch passes like Orlov was doing in game 3 & 4 or it's over. Hopefully, the Panthers get a taste of karma in the next round.
