Do not sign goalies long term. As much as I love helle he’s my favourite goalie. But he’s 30 years old on the latter half of his carrier. You’re better off trading him when you can still get an insane return. Do a rebuild properly. You don’t need a “replacement” if you build a defensively sound team. “Avoid the rebuild”. No. This team needs a change up. Get rid of all the vets except for Lows, and Mo maybe Ehlers and let these young guys be the new stars. The jets have lot of young elite talent coming up. Let them play.
I like Helly but I think it's a big mistake to be opening up the vault door for him at this point in his career with basically a high value retirement plan. He's on the back nine now and already admits he's feeling his age and knows he can't wait forever to achieve his goal of a Stanley Cup. I would thank him for his services and send him on his way if he doesn't want to sign a realistic 3 year deal with the Jets. No matter how much you pay Helly, he can't be the whole team. It doesn't make sense. I can't blame the player for going after the retirement plan but I don't believe in long term monster deals because the player often fizzles out before the contract does. Then you have a player basically retired while still active and the team is flat on its back in cap hell. Helly is a good guy but his best years are most likely already behind him. If he stays we would need a better backup because we are burning this guy out playing him too much.
Well tell me if Helli wants to win a Stanley Cup how are the Jets going to do that with the players on this Roster not happening
Let the poor guy win a cup! He deserves it. #NHLJets aren't anywhere near Cup contenders for at least the next 5-10 yrs so get what you can for him and move on.
Helly's not re-signing unless this team is re-tooled drastically to have a legit chance at contending. He wants to win a cup and he has ZERO chance with the way this team is currently constructed.

This is the time to trade him. There are enough contenders who could use his services to acquire a solid return. But ONLY if the Jets are ready to rebuild. If they do decide to trade him-Watch for Buffalo, perhaps, because they have a young promising goalie, who played reasonably well, when given a chance. That would be a good start to a prospective trade.
Vasilevskiy 9.5m you have to consider hot weather, low taxes, and competitive team. I think Connor will definitely be looking for 10.5-11m unless it's a really competitive team and he realizes good situation maybe like a NJ,,LA.
