This is why I listen – I have never heard of Michkov until this podcast. I do agree however, I would not give up the kitchen sink for any Russian player right now with the political climate. Go ahead, pluck Russian players in the later rounds. We already have a 1 invested in Yurov, as well as other Russian players in the pipeline. It’s too high of a risk…

Michkov is not for the Wild, the Wild needs players who wants to win at all cost and works in both ends of the ice. Michkov is not that guy.
We would need to sell major talent that would hurt our team for 3-5 years thus annoying Kirill by leaving him with even less talent around him…. so we get michkov in three years but might have Kap walk because he is mad at management
The reality is – no one is trading out of the Top 5 picks. The Minnesota Wild are not getting Matvei Michkov and he will not slip past the Habs at No.5 .
Going from pick 18 or whatever to 7th (since I think if he does drop it would be no more than 8th. I think the Canucks would be the team that could move up, especially if Reinbacher isn't gonna be there at 11.
We may very well trade the pick for a RHD since we should compete for a playoff spot with a few good moves this summer. Matvei is IMO at least almost as talented as Bedard and is the only guy along with Reinbacher that I would be interested in waiting for.
I would argue that there is no need – the dude will be dead in Bakhmut in about 3 months.
Matvei M will likely fall. Not because of his talent, but the geopolitical risk is too high.
Top 5 pick…whether it's Michkov or not is going to cost that 1st and Rossi to start. End of story.
1st and Addison wouldn't get the 7th pick. This draft is too deep and it will cost probably too much to jump that many spots.
