  1. This is Eric Staal's 18th NHL season. It would have been his 20th if it had not been for the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, and him not being signed by any NHL team for the 2021-2022 season. He also played in three shortened seasons – the 2012-2013 lockout, and 2-COVID seasons – 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Eric Staal would have had 500 NHL goals by now. He scored 14 goals this season and currently stands at 455 career goals. He is 45 goals shy of 500. He can get his 500th NHL goal by scoring 15 goals each season for the next three seasons. No word yet on what will happen to Eric Staal after this season. Will Florida re-sign him? Does he want to keep playing? Does he want the 500th goal? Will any other team sign him? Will he retire? If Florida wins the Stanley Cup this season, he should return! He could be the 50th or 51st member of the NHL 500+ goals club. His competition for the # 50 spot is Patrick Kane. Evgeni Malkin will be the 48th member of the NHL 500+ goals club, and Joe Pavelski will be the 49th.

  2. North Carolina has a population of 10 million. The market is there people just cry when their team isn’t in it lol.

  3. Imagine the disrespect of these southern market teams by all these fans whose teams are *checks notes* sitting at home. I'm a Canes fan, but it makes me so happy whenever a southern market team does well. The only team to make it past the first round in the past 5 seasons is the one and only Hurricanes. And let's not forgot that Florida won the Presidents trophy last yet. The arrogance from Canadians is just hysterical.

  4. I have no connection with either team
    So here goes
    Head says Carolina
    Heart says Florida

  5. If Carolina was healthy it wouldn’t be as close as it will be, but what Carolina did to a Devil’s team that skated circles around the Rangers, I’ll take the Canes.

  6. What a time to be a Panther fan living in NC. Absolutely love going to Canes games, the culture up in Raleigh is one of the best, and the fans are truly incredible. They love this team. Being at the Winter Classic this year really cemented Carolina as my 2nd team to root for. I was salivating at this potential matchup last season if they both made it to the conference finals. Didn't get my wish then, but I got it now. No matter the outcome, this series will be a huge treat for me

  7. Brind’Amour hockey vs Maurice Hockey… money on Rod. 5 years vs 1 year as team coach. Like both… (Whaler / Canes memories)

  8. Carolina is an entirely different monster than Toronto. If they don’t run into a scoring drought they’re just a better version of Florida; elite levels of all the things you need to win playoff hockey. And this will be the first series Florida doesn’t have an embarrassing advantage in net (for all Ullmark’s regular season success, he fell apart in that series). There also won’t be a worse coach on the other bench this series.

For all the shit trolling people are doing to the Leafs, they had roughly a 70% chance to win 3 of those games; it was Bob massively outplaying Samsonov that won them that series.

Unless Bob massively outplays Anderson, Canes in 6 or less.

  9. Watching people attempting to predict outcomes of the NHL playoffs is simply hilarious!

  10. Should be an incredibly fun series. I have a lot of respect for what Florida has accomplished so far in these playoffs. May the better team win! Go Canes!

  11. I’d like to see Seattle vs Florida but I think it’ll be Carolina vs Dallas advantage Carolina

  12. It this goes according to paper or computers, the Canes win this in 5. But of course, this is hockey, so anything is possible

  13. What a year for the playoffs and who seen this coming ? Panthers and canes for the ECF !!! And what’s going on in the West !!! , The NHL delivers the best playoffs year after year ? Cheers 🇨🇦

  14. People like upsets unless it's their team losing and if there are too many. So way say we don't want Boston, Toronto or NYR but then when we don't get any of these teams going deep into the playoffs people ohhh I don't want to watch these teams in the CF.

  15. As a neutral, I am looking forward this series. Panthers players want to kill the opposition and the refereeing allows for that. The Hurricanes on the other hand are just an ocean, they silently erode until the opposition drowns.

  16. Fans want to cry about how the NHL isn't treated with the level of seriousness that other major sports are, in yet once their big name franchise teams are out, they find something else to watch. You support the game by watching all the way until the finals, not tapping out because teams like Florida and Carolina make the conference finals. It's pathetic. I guess these people think that it's better for the game to only have the same 10-12 teams just rotate the cup until the end of time.

Florida is here because they dug in and eliminated a record regular season winning team in the first round. Then they totally embarrass Toronto to get to where they are. If that doesn't make them a fun and interesting team to watch then, then maybe y'all don't love this game as much as you think you do.

  17. All I hope is that Dallas goes down in defeat! Preferrably agonizingly! I hate the cultive feeling of their crowd's atmosphere! It gives me the creeps! Binner must be happy McJesus and the Oilers are out! I think they still need some depth in scoring. The Oiler's D got outplayed near the net and that cost them the series!

  18. Two great forechecking teams facing each other in ECF, it will be an exciting and fun to watch this series

  19. Tkchuck is playing how NJ fans expected Timo to play for them against Carolina. If he keeps his hot streak going Carolina really doesn't have that gritty big body guy to take care of him if he decides to get into guys heads like Boston

  20. these playoffs are reminding me of the 1996 playoffs….with everyone thinking the Panthers would be knocked out in each round they played in….but then they were swept by Colorado in the finals…. maybe they will win the cup this year.

  21. florida had a lot of momentum coming off the boston series..i think they will dip here..but…obviously they are capable …carolinas defense against them is what will decide it i think…its been good all year….i dont think florida has it on the defensive side…4-2 canes

  22. As a carolina fan this series is gonna be a good one. I'm not in the "we want Florida" type deal. However this is gonna be a hard fought series. Best of luck and may the best team win

  23. Happy for both teams and I agree this is going to be a great series to watch. With all that said,
    LETS GO CATS!!
