Red Wings fan from Buenos Aires here, love the pod!
Raymond 95 point season ?
3/4 teams left are no income tax states. NHL needs to have caps different based on taxes imo.
Ya I don't think we'll ever be the type of team like Pitts Tampa Colorado where the top end superstars are. I could see us becoming a better kraken, or a Carolina, Vegas…. we have to be even up and down the lineup. It probably won't be a 1 or 2 dominate lines type team. I'm probably saying the same thing u guys said here but I just think thats what we'll have to be.
Do a player profile on Mathew Wood !
Detroit has no RHC in their system. That is where the list of intangibles should start for that #9 and or #17 pick.
As for deliberating for taking a defender, the blueliners still available are at the top of their positional ranking. Plus several defenders are rare RHD types that teams covet so much.
If they feel ASP is the guy, they have to do it a pick #9, he will not be there at pick #17.
I don't think "super stars" are required necessarily, and I think the playoffs kinda show that.
I think having "stars", very good players, depth, and a very good goalie are going to be the key.
Idk.. Seider could become close.
Hopefully Carter Mazur comes in as the Biggest Prick of all..
if we can get a lineup similar to Seattle/Carolina
I guess that’s the next step with the roster..
since we don’t have superstars.
I’d be happy with a team full of 2nd liners type of talent,
screw the “super stars” Toronto core four are too soft for playoff success.
After listening, to the star/superstar convo, I’m surprised none of you think Raymond is gonna be a star/superstar, only a good first liner???? He was a 4th overall pick and considering that’s all you guys think of him to be is a bit concerning and I think the 3 of you came to that conclusion after his sophomore slump season. Ray can definitely be a 90-95 point player, he has the skill, IQ, and even compete. I know you guys haven’t given up on him but it definitely caught my eye..for him being a former 4th overall pick…
lol nate danielson will never go in the top ten. wth yall talkin bout?
I'm calling it right now. Amadeus Lombardi will be a superstar.
I think fans have made this whole ”Superstar” thing way big of a deal. Leafs, Rangers and Oilers all have many superstars, but none of them have won anything else, but individual awards.
Curious to see if they trade up to maybe go after Willander from the Rogle Redwings Defense development pipeline.
What I would like to see is if they could trade to move up a bit from 17 and to get another first rounder in the 22-27 range. I would be ecstatic to get Oliver Moore, Ryan Leonard, and Willander or Stenberg maybe if they went D with one of the first two picks. May burn the second rounders to do it, but I would do that in a heartbeat if they can find trade partners. That would be my “using the draft picks” strategy for those Round 1 & 2 picks.
Take best player available at 9 or 17. Picking for what wings need can come back to bite. You in ASS!!
You dont win the cup without superstar scorers. Even if Mo is a superstar, we still need our Mackinnon/Kucherov/Marchand etc. Without it, we arent going anywhere. The problem is, we will never get any luck in the draft lottery and no free agent superstar with their choice of where to go wants to live in Detroit. We basically have yo hope that Yzerman hits on a pick like he did with Point or Kucherov. Its our only chance.
axel sandin pelikka is a gamble.. is he a adam fox, or a jokiharju? who knows. reinbacher and dvorsky are more solid in their projections.
I'm hoping they go for Oliver Moore or Ryan Leonard at 9 and take a chance with Dmitri Simashev at 17.
Agree with the need for more PRICK attitude! Wings way to soft,,,remember Brady T challenging the whole Redwing bench, No response,,ended up falling out of possible playoff place,,,,,, I've been following this team since 58,,,Love my Wings and the whole turning point of their teams from 90's and 2000's was when Mac went after the Turtle….Great show
The Yzerplan is a complete disaster and there will be zero accountability as he continues to piss away assets. Now we watch this abomination coached by the guy who reminds us everyday how great it was in Tampa. Fire yourself. Yzerman has turned this organization into a joke and people are patting him on the back.
i think the playoffs are showing having a superstar in salary cap world does not work
