Pouvons-nous remercier Shero (pour avoir commencé la reconstruction) et Fitz ? Cette liste me fait mal aux yeux.

Wow, this takes me back…. WAY back…. Yes, hats off to both Shero and Fitz, for their transforming this roster into the team that we have now!

Good luck, Fitz, keep making the right deals this offseason to keep the momentum building!!!

Well, winning the draft lottery twice in 2 years to get the #1OA sure works wonders, as opposed to always drafting at like #25/late 1st round every year, for a period of 20 years. And they used a previous draft lottery win to trade for Taylor Hall and then flipped him for Bahl & Mercer. And 6 of the players in the roster above got within 60 minutes of getting to a Game 7 in the Cup Finals.

This roster both pains me deeply but also why do I love so many of these guys ?

I understand why people were upset. We were bottom of the league year after year and the improvement was not obvious. What some people didn’t understand is how absolutely **atrocious** our prospect pool was when Shero arrived while also having an NHL roster absolutely devoid of talent. He literally had next to nothing to work with.

That’s something that still leaves a sour taste in my mouth when Lou Lamourello comes up. He was possibly the worst GM in the league for about 10 years running before Shero got here. Dude drafted like 5 decent NHLers from 2008 to 2012 all while letting cornerstone, face of the franchise, Hall of Fame players walk in free agency for NOTHING. All because of what? He says he doesn’t negotiate contracts during the season? Thanks Lou. Appreciate the tough guy act brother.

Not to turn this into a rant about Lou but while we were entering our darkest years he leaves, gets a job in Toronto, plays the hatchet man that he refused to be here getting rid of their old, bad players, and intentionally tanks for Auston Matthews when we were a worse team while fielding the best possible NHL roster that we could.

The worst thing Shero probably did was employing Hynes for too long.

Somehow I don’t remember Schlemko at all but everyone else brings back memories

Really feel bad for Patty and Andy for having to play through that

Ag the dark days but some good memories

Crazy thing about these years is Cory has some solid numbers before it trails off…just no offense. Not saying we’d go all the way, but maybe some playoffs if we had 2 or 3 of the offensive player we have now, maybe just 1.

Edit: 14-16, save %: .921, .925, .924 for reference, not sure what roster year this is but just what I remember from those years which I thought this was from.

Bobby farnham probably would’ve showed up more than bratt in the playoffs 😂

Blandini’s goal against the Flyers was a shining moment in an otherwise turd filled era
