Is it a good example considering Florida almost didn’t make the playoffs? Not being a dick, genuinely wondering.

  2. cepukon

Marner and Matthews for McDavid lfg

  3. Someguy2947

Thank fuck. All I ask is that he explore every option with little to no untouchables. I don’t want a stupid move made just to make one but risks should be considered because there’s always risks with a trade of this magnitude. If nothing works out and he runs it back, so be it. So many here still seem to be on team run it back making every excuse in the book so I’m relieved this is Dubas’s attitude.

I feel like this is a pre cursor to another London Knight getting traded in a Blockbuster deal

  5. Skiffy10

i like what i hear. Resign this man asap

  6. I know everyone is angry and wants changes, but this is the right take. The Leafs shouldn’t just make a trade for trades sake. The free agency crop is terrible. So creating cap space right now isn’t overly valuable. If you find a 1 for 2 or 1 for 3 trade that bolsters the depth of the team at the expense of high end performance, sure you do it. If you find a one-for-one elite forward for elite defenseman you have to look at it but you can’t go into the offseason looking to trade someone as the only reasonable outcome. Making a bad trade for the sake of making a trade is worse than bringing the core back.

I do hope that our GM finds that trade though.

    And he does mean…anything

    Dubas is friggin Megaman.

Every year he takes a lesson from the team that beats him and implements changes based on it

  9. Baron_of_Foss

I’m not necessarily against a trade but I feel like no one is acknowledging the fact that Calgary didn’t even make the playoffs this year and Florida literally made it by losing in overtime instead of regulation. Like could you imagine trading one of the top guys and the Leafs being one point behind the last wild card spot next year?

Neither Dubas or Keefe understand what it takes to win in the playoffs and it becomes more apparent each day. The last time Dubas made a big trade like this he traded a gritty number two center for Kerfoot and a Dman that made Gardiner look like Langway.

  11. Strangle49311

How do you not have faith in this guy? Dubas is our guy.

He knows that tough decisions have to be made and I wouldn’t want anyone else making those decisions

  12. VisitPier26

This makes me irrationally mad. I love Dubas but…

The panthers-flames blockbuster was the template for us – last summer. It should have been us – assuming Tkachuk would accept it – offering the flames Marner for him.

  13. Hustler17

But we’d almost certainly be on the Flames end of a trade like that..

Any upcoming superstar RFA we can get for a soon to be overpaid UFA superstar?

  15. billyshin

If we can’t get 16 and 34 to play physically, then get physical guys that can accompany them. We need more ROR Acciari Schenn-type of guys to motivate the locker room into playing more physically.

    (Edit)

Ever since the TDL, Holl been throwing hits. Not as much as I’d like to see but it’s a start. I’ve never seen Holl throw hits before the TDL. What I’m saying is the presence of McCabe and Schenn has something to do with that.

  16. ImOnRedditHarHar

If Dubas or Shanny has enough money to throw towards McJesus, they should let matthews walk and get a hold of his agent and guarantee him. A Toronto boy is a Toronto boy.

  17. Ancient_Contact4181

    Marner for Jared McCann

  18. wicked_crayfish

« My jobs on the line so now I’ll actually do something to fix this team that’s clearly been broken for 7 years. «

  19. michaelg101

3 way trade… Anaheim gets the best player and still retain a lower 1st round pick , toronto gets cap space and 2 good promising young players, pheonix gets a top 3 pick

Anaheim acquires marner, pheonix 6th overall pick

Pheonix acquires matt Murray, Anaheim 2nd overall pick, a depth winger from Anaheim

    Toronto aquires Keller, Drysdale

  20. SirTropheus

First thing I’d do is resign Acciari and Schenn, then I’d add more players with high hit totals but low PIMs such as Brady Tkachuk being my main target followed by Seider, Larsson, McBain etc..

Why did we have to suffer being the losers of the NHL to get to where we are today?

As a Leaf fan (and certainly a manager) wasn’t the main issue apparent in CBJ? Wasn’t it crystal clear this team doesn’t have the grit to win in MTL? Why did we have to wait till 2023 to be « open » to change?

When you are in your 30s and only have AHL experience… you think life lasts forever and you can take generations to get it done. Look at DeBoer….4 teams and evrrytime he takes them deep. We need that kind of guy coaching the Leafs…..not Dubas « buddy » from the Soo.
