Yeah cause the team is soft and has multiple over paid “stars” on it aswell as underperforming/utilized young players. Not to mention the media being up the coaches ass with every decision being scrutinzed and the pressure to “fix” this team. Theres little room for roster adjustment or change so I could see why some would steer clear

he didnt feel that way about toronto?

Good. Lifelong wings fan here. Fuck Babcock, forever. You should not want this narcissistic sociopath on your team unless you want him to mentally destroy everyone on the team that you like. Gets fired from Detroit for being an abusive dick, gets fired from Toronto for being an abusive dick, and continues to have abusive interactions with everyday people where he lives.

If I were in the Rangers’ front office, here’s how I would handle this, just to get the press occupied and looking away from the coaching search:

Gather up some names of coaches I have no intention of even interviewing. Find a subordinate in the office to « leak » that list (pay him extra to tell the recipient « don’t tell **anyone** or they’ll fire me »). Sit back and watch them speculate on the front-runner and criticize the hell out of the candidates (« Not **him**, he’s a shitty person!“). Unveil the **real** choice and watch the same press go, « oh, yeah, that **is** a good pick. »

That’s been my thought since the press pit forth Quenneville as a candidate.

I got downvoted for this in another thread but I’ll die on the hill. Let me say that I am GLAD Babcock doesn’t want to come here. The issue is I don’t think ANY potential « big name » coach wants to come here, nor a big name assistant.

We are not a destination right now. We’re in a state of purgatory basically until 2026. We’re not bad enough to suck and get high lottery picks. But we’re also knee capped from being a Cup contender with the makeup of our roster and the fact that every big name player basically has a NMC attached to them.

To me, a best case scenario is a guy like Jay Leach.

Had read about the situations in Detroit & Toronto after he was let go. Surprised his name was ever brought up.

If it’s anyone but Knoblauch I’m not gonna like the hiring. A coach like Babcock all but ends whatever “rebuild” we have left (and at this point it’s almost like it never happened – which is shocking)

    Rule #1 in Life – Don’t be a dick.

    Babcock fails 24/7.

No thank you. Have a great day!

Hahahaha! Yeah, not right environment for HIM. Dude, we don’t want anything to do with a PoS like you AND you’d be blessed to ever get a sniff of such a prestigious position. Think you need to keep working on yourself. Trash person.
