When I first saw that logo (a hockey stick in the rink, supposed to shape a stylized C), I thought that it was the most plain looking, uninspired, simple-minded, boring, ugly, unimaginative, and laziest excuse for a NHL hockey team logo. This insigna didn't have the look of a winning sports team. It looked like something Charles M. Schultz (the cartoonist/creator of Charlie Brown/Peanuts Gang) would have drawn. Today, how times have changed. It seems to symbolize the Canucks now than it did when it was introduced to the team back in 1970. That and the Orca breaking through an iceberg logo shaped like a C.
Bring back the original uniforms as the alternate. Love the V's on the side of the sleeves.
Will they change the jersey? Can we use the johnny canuck logo as the main one. Still the same colour though. How I wish.
orca hands down. The orca with bright blue. not the super dark with red or whatever
I like it lets go with it boys
Johnny Canuck.
So sick of that bloody whale.
The Orca Bay era is long gone, lets start this new Linden era afresh and drop it.
I love our blue and green colours. Easily the best and most distinct colour scheme in the NHL. Has that west coast feel too.
How about winning instead of focusing on a logo?
New Jersey please
…ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A C?!
I like the late 90's jersey, with the same colour scheme and logo, maybe with v's on the sides
To watch a Canucks game in the 70's was only $5?! Now it's $500!
people complain about it, but i do like the orca. i don't care if it belonged to a former company. the orca is a beautiful animal of the west coast of canada.
The skate will always be my favorite.
Never realized it was a "c" until now!
This logo is perfect for the Canucks. A dead hockey stick. Especially this year but mostly the whole franchise life of the team has had dead hockey sticks no goals in them.
Agreed
Thats soooo COOL!!!
lucky enough to get a seat to the game,..which were 5$ a seat at that time," ugh I need a time machine
Time to ditch the Orca Logo! Keep the Colours and go back to the stick or johnny canuck logo. While we are at it, bring back the skate logo jerseys as the 3rds.
Ive always liked that logo.
I loved seeing the Kings getting in on the retro fun too, wearing their original royal purple and gold for our 40th Anniversary game.
I always preferred the Crazy Skate, but then that's what I grew up with.
Although I love the Orca, I have to admit the simplicity of the "stick in rink" is compelling. My only reservation is, as he says himself, it is not always obvious what the design elements are (apart from the hockey stick) In the end it is longevity and success that leads to a trademark's fame and recognition and that is where the Canucks have faltered. Far too many changes and not enough achievement. Stick with the Orca.
*FAVORITE
The ugliest most boring logo in sports or business. This guy would have made the lions logo a green square with a brown football on it. Zzzzz
I absolutely love the overall design of the very first Canuck uniform in 1970. The colours, the logo, the stripes and the V in the sleeve. As a complete uniform, that may be my favourite. It's impossible to say which jersey I prefer. Those 1970 uniforms are great though.
nice story
In all due respect to the timeless and classy Stick In Rink C, the Canucks' biggest mistake was not going with their true identity, Johnny Canuck from Day One. As Canucks fans, we all have our respective favourite and hated logos, colours and uniforms. However, the Canucks will continue to have an identity crisis until the corporate orca is ditched ASAP and replaced with the club's true identity, Johnny Canuck. A bad logo DIVIDES its fan base. All the orca does is represent Tourism Vancouver and the former meddling ownership group, Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment. A good strong logo that represents the heritage and history of the club UNITES its fan base. Keeping the orca and the cluttering arched 'VANCOUVER' just to have a lasting identity is not the way to do it. It's by going with the right colours(which we have) and the right logo. That's Johnny Canuck. It represents Vancouver's and BC's historic lumber industry and it screams "Canucks Hockey".
those original jerseys are so nice
Just bring em back and keep em forever.
My 3rd cousin, "Barba Joe"! (Uncle Joe) in Croatian.
Simple, literal, outdoorsy…. This spells west coast living. I wasn't a lover of this initially, but since 1997, I've not liked where things have gone. I'd rather have the skate & rink (even a modernized V) over anything past 1997
I love the original logo and it is time to get rid of that crap orca bay logo.
2020?
As a Canuck fan, my personal favorite is still the whale! However! I do also really like the stick in rink, and I'm glad it still exists as a shoulder patch, and the primary logo on their current alternate jersey! I wish in the future, the Canucks doesn't change anything. Keep the blue/green/white color scheme, keep the whale as a primary logo. As it still looks modern in 2020, 23 years later. While keeping the stick in rink as the shoulder patch and primary logo on the alternate jersey! Not to mention I like the idea of the whale as it pays homage to the indigenous culture! And I like logos that do that! Paying homage! 😀
My ranking of the logos:
1. The orca/whale (the current primary logo)
2. Stick in rink (the original/current alternate logo)
3. The skate
4. Johnny Canuck
Note: As a Canuck fan, I like all of them! So it's not worst to best, but rather good to best! 🙂
'Canuck' meant Canadian Soldier in WW2 – during and after the war, that term had emerged. I always thought that the original uniform and logo should have been military influenced. Blue, green, and white…just ain't scary. Cute as it was, that original logo belonged on a milk bottle.
I have a canucks vancouver cap 1969-1972 logo☺️☺️
