Am I the only one who’s never heard of Smith as being particularly good on defense?

My hot take is that if any of the big 5 drop out of the top 5, it will be Smith. I think the draft will play out with with Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson going 1-2-3. I also think San Jose will be willing to wait for a super star talent like Michkov. That would leave Smith to us, but I’m beginning to wonder if Smith is the type of player Hughes and St. Louis would want, or if they would go for someone like Benson, Leonard or Dvorsky, who seem like more well rounded players and might fit better into their vision of what the team will be. I feel like if we were interested in a Smith type of player, we would have gone for Cooley last year, who seems to be cut from a similar cloth .
To be clear, I am not advocating for this, or even think it is particularly likely, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if it happens.

He goes top 4 and Montreal is going to take Reinbacher. I am almost certain at this point. It’s not what people want to hear. It’s not terribly exciting. We’re certain to have another media heyday about Montreal messing up the pick, along with posts and ridicule from fans of other teams. It’s going to happen though, and he’ll be like a right handed version of Guhle to round out the top 4. Teams need good minute munching RHD. There aren’t enough of them to go around.
