This was about Dubas wanting more control and Shanny being threatened by that. The money thing is a distraction to turn fans against him.

It’s not Kyle’s place to say anything. Lay low for a while. Pick up with another team. Then make a comment year later. I had a great time, learned a lot, would have like to have been in the parade, etc.

I like Dubas more or less but let’s not think he’s irreplaceable. He inherited Matthews Marner and Nylander. He hasn’t done anything really that’s absolute world beater Steve Yzerman style contracts or trades. The leafs likely would have had at least as much overall success with most of the other NHL GMs behind the wheel.
Let the man rest. Let him spend time with his family away from hockey. He’s earned and deserves it. Though I’m sure Matthews will invite him out to Bieber’s place or something.
