  1. I look at Nugent Hopkins as a no show . What are his contract details ? What can Oilers get for him because he's on the downside , and didn't pull hie weight … he is a rapidly depeciating asset … get something for him a s a p .

  2. You simply can't win playoff hockey letting in 4 – 6 goals per game. And too many of those are softies not to mention Skinner getting caught too often way off to the side, and way too deep on mid range shots.

  3. Giving a full NMC to Evander Kane is like pulling a pin on a hand grenade and then gluing it to your hand.

  4. It will be sooner rather than later. I think the REALITY is setting. MCDAVID will NEVER win a cup in Edmonton. He is realizing that now.

  5. Mostly, this team needs to play tighter, I don't think there needs to be any big trades. They'll get there. Good grief, it's just been the last 2 years that McDavid and Draisital have figured out that they have to play defense.

  6. So in 3 years which team do you think is going to have a legit shot at a cup plus 15 million in cap space for one guy lol your acting like he is ray bourque on his last leg waiting for a cup the kid is 26 years old he wont be taking a 10 mil per year paycut to be on a cup contender at 29 years old

  7. Dude, get some chill in your game. The Oilers are by no means "screwed". At least any more screwed than they would have already been if they'd gone all the way. Clearly they made some self-inflicted mistakes which cost them the series. Learn from it, and move on! Why does it have to be more dramatic than that?

  8. It doesn't make sense. How can the front office be blamed for the team losing to a better team. Edmonton and Toronto are in the midst of building a winning team. They aren't there yet, simple. Toronto and the Oilers picked up players at the Deadline because they knew they weren't ready yet to win it all. The Oilers could win 3 in a row starting next year and when Matthews and Marner hit 29 years old the Leafs could go on a 2 or 3 year Stanley Cup win, you can never tell when a team picks up that player that gets them over the hump.

  9. For years now it's been fashionable to dump on the Oilers. People just get off on it. Admittedly, they've had poor management for most of the last 15 years, and they were not in good shape when Ken Holland took over. Let's be real here though; they're in an infinitely better position now. If you consider that the core of a team is your top 6 forwards, third line center, top 4 D-men, and starting goaltender; they have 5 of 6 top six forwards, a third line center in McLeod, and 3 of 4 top four D-men, and a young, talented goalie in Skinner. They finished the regular season 18-2-1 since the trade deadline. They're legitimately a top 5 team now. The sky isn't falling; they only need to get a tiny bit better. No team wins every year.

  10. he is NOT the best player at all, nor is Leon, niether will EVER win a cup only things for themselves.
both NEVER admit to being part of the problem only ever blame others.
both cost the team as many goals as they score, fact its ont he NHL stats page , goals conceeded while on the ice + give aways both in the top 50 of the league.
both play 1 way games and leave the rest of th eline high n dry on the back end.

people complain about the D or the G players but when you have 5 + 1 pn ice and only 2/3 + 1 defend the others teams 5 it dont do well on the math front.
when they admit there part to all the things that go wrong and dont just sit there and say well i score goals, nothing will ever change or get fixed and both are too arrogant for that to happen. FACT.

    its a team sport,

  11. I think the only thing the Oilers need is a different mindset, perhaps with a new coach. The historically good power play masked their defensive problems. Need to solve that.

  12. Hopkins needs to go . He contributed barely anything this playoffs and last. He doesn’t have the pressure on him like Leon and Connor but still does not contribute . Nurse is worth 3m tops . What a disgrace that is

  13. What they need is a superstar defenseman like Cale Makar or Moritz Seider and maybe a great two-way player on offense and the goaltending has got to be better if they can get these 3 they will be good for a cup

  14. I don’t like being the guy who goes and blames the refs for everything, and the oilers did not play the best they could but it definitely makes a series hard to win when the refs are never on your side

  15. Woodcroft made way too many bonehead mistakes

Starting skinner after he was pulled

Breaking up the Mcdavid and Draisaitl line which he’s been known to do many times

    This is on Woodcroft

    Here’s the thing

People forget the Oilers still had 2 wins against Vegas

Those 2 wins were dominant as fuck!they destroyed Vegas easily and made Vegas look horrible

So what happened?well after losing leads and keeping skinner in net til it was too late and obviously kane was told to settle down because he sure stopped showing up after making headlines

Made no sense to me how they just stopped after 2 dominant wins like that

    Woodcroft is the issue

You don’t start a fuckin rookie goalie in the playoffs,Woodcroft clearly didn’t take the playoffs seriously just on that stupid move alone.
    That’s that

  16. There should have been a double minor for the stick to Ekholm that drew blood and Toronto having the OT goal not count was BS… The Rat in charge has to be replaced asap. He worries about the USA and WOKE more then anything.

  17. Trade Yamamoto and a pick or high draft prospect for a 2/3rd line dman. Yams is 3.1 mil a year for 1 more year it’s not a bad contract for a team looking to add a hard working 3rd line winger and if oilers sweeten it with a 1st round pick they could get a decent 2/3rd defenceman and they could even trade out or buy out a contract like devin shore to add a bit more cap space and then call up Dylan Holloway to replace Yamamoto. Oilers weakness is defence and this is the only trade I could see the oilers making that would actually make the team better.

  18. Oilers have about 8 players that are just too old, over 30. They have to replace these 8 players. Not only that, but after all these years they don't understand why a team like VGN could win. The reason is because Oilers don't care about +/-, whereas if you look at the +/- of the players on Vegas, you can see they all have great +/- numbers. The mistake they made also against VGN was the players were exhausted. Oilers needed abour 4 or 5 guys that can take off the load for a game. That's what VGN did. Also it's possible Oilers might have won without Skinner. Skinner did not save us a single game. He was less than average. Not horrible, just less than average.

  19. I’m coming around to the realization that a top heavy payroll just can’t win a Cup. Crosby, and Ovi won with less than 9 mill cap hit. Don’t think anyone has won a Cup with a 10 mill dollar player.

  20. Technically the oil has 2 years of mcdavid contract to win the cup. Because after those 2 years, you are facing another Tkachuk situation where you have to trade him before he goes into his UFA walk year. Or risk losing him for nothing

  21. Easy fix to get cap space, trade campbell plus a first rounder and or Holloway no salary retention to get rid of him. Trade Yama no salary retention for a 3rd rounder. Trade giveaway terrible Nurse 9 million for a bag of rocks no salary retention and sign a d man that can do his job better Klingberg for 6 million, getting a net cap space of 3 million.

  22. Skinner won the starting spot by coming in a bailing out Campbell in the regular season, the playoffs are a totally different animal, game six should’ve been Campbell starting and if he lets in two weak goals, Skinner comes in and becomes the hero, coach screwed up as usual in tight situations.

  23. Actually they are more screwed than that Dri's contract comes up the year before McD. Good chance they loose both for nothing,

  24. Edmonton Oilers need a goalie plain and simple. Skinner is a decent goalie but he is not going to get Edmonton to the cup

  25. The Oilers are going to be just fine, there's just small changes that need to be made to the edges, but nothing major at all.

  26. Plus, if he isn't going to resign, you've got to get rid of him a year early. (Or lose him for nothing) So you have 2 years left.

  27. When McDavid will learn to play a 200 foot game, he will win a stanley cup, Crosby is a 200 foot player and he won it.

  28. Why isn't anyone talking about the coach? Everyone talks about goaltending, and new defencemen, but never the coach who had NO ANSWER to the VGK and Bruce Cassidy?

Oh, is it because he beat a senile old prick in Darryl Sutter? A man who seemingly did everything he could to sabotage the Flames' chances of advancing past the oil??

Jay Woodcroft is at best, a middle of the pack coach whose only solution for when another team won't allow McDrai to do whatever the hell they want is to shorten the bench and double shift those guys. He does particularly well against old farts like Todd Mclellan and Darryl Sutter because those guys have allowed the modern game to pass them by. You seen what happened against VGK and last year's Avs team. You don't win games against the oilers by turtling in your zone and letting the oilers have all the space to break out against you. You make THEM defend against you, they're weak on defence and only one team can have the puck at once. Be that team and then they can't score on you.

Todd mclellan should have been fired last year. Darryl Sutter as well, it only took losing their two superstars & a significant portion of their roster threatening to quit this summer for Flames mgmt. to do the right thing.

As long as Todd mclellan remains behind LA's bench, I fully expect another LA vs. EDM matchup next year, with similar (or worse) results for the Kings. Who knows, maybe the oilers will sweep the Kings when they inevitably hide out in their own zone doing that dreaded 1 – 3 – 1. Maybe then they might get rid of Todd ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  29. I used to think our window is before draisaitls contract was up, cuz if he left mcdavid would follow after the sweep in 2021. But after seeing these past 2 seasons i think otherwise, they arent leaving after those year end interviews. They arent the type to run away when things get tough like tkachuk and johhny in calgary, draisaitl sure as hell aint leaving and mcdavid wouldnt leave if draisaitl didnt, we just need to prove we’re contenders year in and year out and they’ll do the rest and win a cup. No trouble here in yeg, championship teams go through a shit ton of losses before they can get it done.
