I said two off seasons ago time to trade the core. Said that because I knew they would never win when it really mattered. And now two years later all this team has to shown is meaningless regular season success. And now less time on their contracts. Should of blown it up years ago. What a waist of an era. I dislike this team more then the Dion era. Such an unlikeable team!
The losses during the regular season to bottom dwellers year after year is much more telling to their constant end of year results.

I would fire Dubas and trade out both Matthews and Marner for a complete culture change/shock. Use them to get key prospects, role players and top picks. A top player in return would be great but not even my focus. I would reshape the roster around Reilly, Tavares, Nylander, O'Reilly and Schenn and whatever I bring in. Keep Keefe for continuity, he strikes gold or eventually gets replaced. Fire and trade the people who deserve it and keep the ones that have stepped up and been professionals and gamers.

need literal soldier marines to win as the leafs. Refs and league against us. Got to have the toughest sob's in the league to play playoff hockey. The Core are good regular season players. But you need actual WARRIORS to go into the tough areas and take all the abuse and punishment and not lose their minds like Kadri did. Marner should be gone first and most overpaid. JT too old now and albatross contract. Matthews certainly does not deserve a raise and should be paid less. Willy only does enough to not get criticism and the best deal the leafs have of the 4. But at least he shows up usually when the chips are down.

Matthews is not a Generational player. After 19 years of being Perfect Playoff Losers – this Leafs Core were an average playoff performers this year. That makes it tougher on us Leafs trolls. Why did Leafs fans expect anything more from the Leafs this spring – and why would any NHL teams want Marner at $12 Million on their team in the playoffs? I suspect all Leafs core, GM and coach – are back for another 7 years of this. Thanks Leafs & fans for the fun and entertainment. Maybe Woll will be the good enough playoff goaltender – that the Leafs haven’t prioritized since 2004?

there's a cpl things that stand out to me. well, one for sure. this Knies thing. florida had their eyes on him, they see his impact in the tampa series and what he was becoming. i don't know about the refs deciding this series, but they def. had an impact. tkachuk's elbow to Knies's head, 2 minutes. then we have bennet on Knies behind the net and Knies leaves the series. for starters bennet wrestles Knies down leading to the concussion, he cross checks Bunting in the neck and while down across the back and gets 2 minutes for all that ? Matthews got a game for cross checking somebody in the neck alone. this whole Knies thing hurt. ok enough on that. they said don't be a buncha wimps and man up, ok. florida brought the rough stuff right away in game one but toronto answered it through Schenn and Mccabe. thats all good, but florida sees this and starts the elbows to heads and crosschecks to necks and concussing Knies out. Bunting got 3 games for his elbow. florida brought the dirt, toronto won't go there and i like that in the team. names i don't mention stays on the team. i will mention notables though. Matthews stays, Willy stays, Woll and Sammy stay, those are the notables that all are talkin' about. Marner goes, Tavares goes ( Tavares might be a tough one to get rid of though, but definately the C comes off his jersey, i'd rather see him gone ) Keefe goes, Kerfoot and Liligren goes. Matthews will be better without Marner. Matthews and Willy would be an awesome duo. Woll is the starter next year. i see Tavares witness one of his teammates get cremated and tavares skates away gesturing to the refs that thats a penalty when a real captain would have let into the checker that ruined his teammate. he is NO captain, GONE. Keefe GONE ! Dubas stays. the Rielly goal call back was a goal btw. i see a video slowed down today that clearly shows the puck going over the line long befor the clip everyone is seeing of bobs skate blade on the puck. you can say what you want, i think toronto got shafted by the refs on calls the whole series. the OT game winner last night ? gudas was holding the stick, thats a penalty. overall, Keefes bad coaching was a major contributer to losing this series, both behind the bench AND in the dressing room.
Why was Holl on the ice with Lilijgren in O/T?? I don't get it. "B" league coaching from Keefe.

Problem trying to trade Matthews = he will have a no trade clause kick in; him and Mitch will play together in 2 years like good friends do these days and no one will pay a premium for 1 year on Auston who is a perennial no show in the playoffs. And I believe he has a bad wrist/surgery that wasn't 100%. Plus he's a toxic look-at-me type of personality unlike Borje, Wendel, Darryl and Lanny.
Problem with re-building this thing is over the next 3-years they have 2x1st rounders, zero 2nds and 1x3rd in the first 4 rounds all 3 years combined.
