Watching this situation from the outside over a number of years, there is no way anybody could logically conclude that the same amount of pressure was put on everybody else in the Leaf’s organization, as there was on the shoulders of Kyle Dubas.
It’s a sad commentary on the Leafs state of affairs when lack of success had nothing to do with the decision not to resign. Pittsburgh fires GM and President after one failed cup conversely they have won cups. Toronto no cups no accountability.
I don't think anyone could say Kyle didn't put everything into his job as GM of the Leafs, no matter what the haters say. Did he make a couple of questionable signings, particularly early in his tenure, Yes. But, I think he grew and matured as a GM every year.
Craig can get a grip on his hair product problem before I can take any of his advice on someone else.

why ask Craig Buttons' opinion on a Flames podcast? Do you not remember his tenure as Flames GM?
I think asking the question about whether people are allowed to honestly express an emotion when they are feeling burnt out is a really important one in this discussion. Craig Button can't commend Dubas for being honest and forthright and then say that it showed he was not up to the job anymore. Ludicrous. Shanahan drove a bus over Kyle when he already knew that he was struggling and needed more time. If the contract negotiations were the issue, just say "we've decided to go in a different direction." The upset in the Leaf's front office and people resigning tells the story of who people think was treated unfairly here.

I can't believe nobody around 6 and a half mins in is talking about WHY dubas is straddling the line and seeming one foot in one foot out, even though he stated he's passionate, wants to be here, loves Toronto and won't go anywhere else. He very clearly got lowballed. Clearly maybe in accordance with something else, but def got lowballed
I disagree with Craig Button’s appraisal of Shanahan’s news conference . Dubas gave him an easy out and he took it and shoved the knife in as he was leaving . Why drag your dirty laundry out ,why trash a individual after you let him go . If we judge individuals for class I’ll take Dubas every day over Shanahan
