Jim Benning did ok drafting and when he came into Vancouver he got ok value for a Kesler deal to basically 2 destinations. That could help in a quickly developing Mathews/Arizona situation. I think his drafting shows a strong record. Forsling Mccann look like good players that moved out of vancouver but picked my him.

Name one other GM, Coach or Toronto Executive in history that after leaving or being fired by the Leaf's remained top of mind and part of the daily Toronto press and discussion. Toronto Media doesn't care about former Leaf team players, managers and executive careers. If Duba's as an example moves to the Peguins, great for him….But TSN or Sports Net will never cover or prop up Dubas as the God they have done in the past and currently.
It's tough to run a team in Toronto when you live in New York city. 🙄

Dubas should have be fired as soon as he traded for Murray. Trading for a guy who played 47 games in 2 years is a fireable offence. That’s just one of,any faux pas Dubas made.
Marc Bergevin's the perfect man for the GM role. He brought in players such as Suzuki, Weber, Anderson, Drouin, Caufield and Allen to name a few with the Habs. He's got bite and not afraid to make decisions. Brad Treliving would be a mistake for the Leafs. He couldn't get Gaudreau and Tkachuk to stay with Calgary. Markstrom was a big mistake, Huberdeau and Kadri underachieved for the Flames and never made the playoffs.
