@Canucks de Vancouver

1. This is your yearly reminder that Messier can go fuck himself

  2. Imagine if they’d landed Gretzky, who finished 4th in scoring in 1997 and tied for 3rd in scoring (with Bure) in 1998? Now imagine Gretzky centering Bure AND Mogilny. Would have been insane. Gretzky would have won back to back scoring titles in 1997 & 1998 and Bure and Mogilny would’ve hit 70+ goals each. Gretzky would have had 110+ assists and 30+ goals. 140-150 points for him each year. The Canucks would have been Cup contenders, too, with that trio. If only they had not put the gun to his head at 2 in the morning, what could have been….

  3. Changing to the orca logo was a horrible decision. Funny story my mom worked for CBSA at the Point Roberts border and when Mogilny came across the border one night and he handed over his passport for my mom to check and saw it was Russian and she didn’t know who Mogilny was and thought it was weird a Russian was in a small town like Point Roberts lol

  4. Was always disappointed that Pat Quinn caved to Messier, the whole experiment combined with Keenan was cancerous to the Canucks and took some time to recover from.

  5. Dont forget that had they actually played Irbe as the regular goalie that year, they would have actually made the playoffs with his record.. but keenan refused to play irbe more regularly as they did not like each other.

  6. You lost me when you said Gretzky was pathetic in St. Louis. 14 points in 12 playoff games plus 21 points in 18 games (8 goals 13 assists). He would have stayed but Keenan embarrassed him so he left. Also, he was 35 years old at the time.

  7. Still think about those people who said Marcus got all his points playing with Mario. He was a fourth liner and rarely played with him. Oh and the Canucks grabbed almost every player my brother had on a list that he submitted to the Canucks. And almost grabbed the rest of the list. They used to read pretty much all the fan mail back then. Coincidence or what? I like Mark but at that point I did not want him on the team.

  8. Wayne Gretzky would not have done anything in Vancouver. just like what he did in New York NOTHING , and the same as per Messier who did nothing

  9. Mike Kenan coming in to a team with an insane amount of talent and destroying it?

    Brett Hull's Blues: "Were you not paying attention when it happened to us?"

  10. I actually read Messier's side of the story. It's easy to blame him for causing a locker room rift, but he explained that management warned him the rift was already there. Part of it was John McCaw's input – his hockey people were at odds with Pat Quinn, they had him bring in other players who didn't always fall in with Linden. Furthermore, Bure and Mogilny were always aloof personalities and a guy like Linden could only hold their respect for so long. Messier did take responsibility for not being diplomatic to weave the locker room together – he instead tried to force his mission, his will into the team, and by so doing wound up with only half the team following him. The other half stayed loyal to Linden. It was chaotic.

    However, the team almost wound up signing Gretzky in free agency the year before, a guy well known for his diplomacy skill. He would have weaved all the factions together, from the locker room to the front office. Furthermore, he is the right kind of leader to pull Bure and Mogilny out of their aloofness and get the best out of them. It's scary to think how good the team would have been had Gretzky been there. I had the Nucks winning Cups in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 – even after Gretzky would have retired. The changes he would have brought to the team would outlast his on-ice career.

  11. didn't watch your video, but the team fell apart because Messier kept trying to fuck Bure and it caused a locker room rift

  12. Mark messier won the cup with 1994 rangers, I think cheap shot on linden as well if I remember correctly in one of the games… didn’t help us win anything and got linden traded… great resume /s

  13. those were dark dark days for hockey in vancouver
    i stopped watching hockey the whole time he (messier) was here

  14. This almost every year in Vancouver it’s next year or what could have been. The Marc Crawford Canucks were talented even if we didn’t have a goalie Dan Cloutier was the weakest. The Pat Quinn years were great and the Alain Vigneault years were very exciting. But zero Stanley Cups. Those Mark Messier, Iron Mike Keenan years were awful the Canucks took a huge step back and everyone was fired. We finally were going in the right direction under Brian Burke but his finances hindered his rebuild. Then under Mike Gillis he did some good things and we went to the Cup in 2011 only to screw it up and have several mental let downs in game 6 and then the awful game 7. It’s been shit ever since as a Canuck fan. The last decade from 2013 to 2023 has been the worst I ever seen from a fan POV. It’s not going to get any better. Management has to start clean keep some of the young stars but ship the rest out. It sucks because the Canucks should of won the Cup in 2011 and a big rebuild wouldn’t have mattered because at least we won one Stanley Cup. Vancouver Canucks fans deserve better the ones who pay a shit load of money for tickets and expensive beer. Who sit in the nose bleeds and come to every game on time.

  15. Messier was the worst piece of garbage the Canucks ever had half heartedly play for them. This vid just brought back some really awful memories. I so depressed now. 😉
