@Rangers de New York

[Lazarus] Je suis porté à croire que #NYR attend la rencontre de Gary Bettman avec Joel Quenneville avant de prendre une décision sur le prochain entraîneur-chef.

    Didn’t it come out last week that the league said he hasn’t done enough to be reinstated?

    I…might have to reconsider supporting the Rangers while Quenneville is head coach. He shouldn’t get anywhere near MSG.

    one last time, NYR is a notoriously tight-lipped organization. 90% of the things being posted are just for clicks/engagement. don’t freak out until a hiring has been officially announced.

    Honestly I don’t give a fuck. He wasn’t directly the rapist, while he did some bad shit, and definitely didn’t do enough, you can’t find one team in professional sports that doesn’t have somebody that did something as bad or worse than what quinnville did. If the Yankees can employ in New York someone who beat his wife, including smacking her across the face in front of the whole team, then the rangers can employ somebody who wasn’t a rapist, but just didn’t do enough after finding out about it. The dude is a very very good coach, and the rangers desperately need an experienced winning coach to help them finally win the cup. I’ll probably get a lot of flak for that but I always thought it was so weird how certain guys arbitrarily get ostracized by a sport, what other guys who do stuff that’s blatantly worse don’t face nearly the same repercussions or hate. I understand what he did wrong, and I’m not defending it, but I do think since he’s not the actual rapist, that it’s okay for him to eventually get a second chance, and if that second chance can help the rangers finally win a cup I’m all for it

    This would be so deeply upsetting.

    Thank god I have rangers south(tb) and rangers mid-south(car).

    Jokes aside, you have to wonder who’s even entertaining this idea in the FO and why would they want this leaked? This is an awful idea imo

    My issue with this is that there’s no guarantee that the league is going to reinstate Quenneville any time soon and waiting to have an interview with him might cost the Rangers the opportunity to hire a good coach. Forgetting the morality of the whole issue for a moment, this might not good planning by the Rangers if they decide to wait.

    I’m not going to get into the morality of hiring Quenneville. That’s up to each individual fan. And while I’m certain it will cost the team some fans at first, I have no doubt in my mind that if Quenneville is hired, and he has the Rangers looking like a legitimate contender, a lot of those fans will be peeking in on the team through their fingers.

    Can I get some clarity on what actually happened? Not making a statement here about whether he should be NYR coach, and don’t need a lesson in consent, I honestly haven’t been able to find the complete story. Wikipedia and news coverage is vague

    1. Sexual assault can be legally many things. Was it unwanted touching? Oral sex or something more? Was it sex by coercion? By manipulation (i.e. promise of some benefit)? Drugging? Full on violent overpowering?
    2. What was Q specifically fired for? Was it deciding not to « deal with it » until after the playoffs? And then merely accepting the video coach’s resignation instead of publicly firing him?
    3. What happened to the video coach? Did he face criminal charges?

    Honestly if the do this I dont even know. Even a meeting is too much

    Saying it here and now. I will NEVER go to a game if coach q is hired

    In my opinion, upper management in chicago failed beach. It is not on the coach to handle HR business, and the reality is it would have been a distraction a week before the cup finals. Quenneville was told by the top guys ‘well handle it’ and a few months later, the video coach is gone. In retrospect, Quenneville probably could have been more pursuant in following up but he has more than paid the price for his inaction. People deserve a second chance.

    I was thinking the same thing. I would really like to see Knaubloch get a shot.
