Suzuki is laughable. I’ve said this before and gotten shit but I’m sticking to it, they’re a toss up. We don’t even upgrade there and I’m supposed to give you a guy locked down to a good/ decent contract for a guy you’re holding hostage but gets to walk out after one more season? Lol.
Take the Panthers 1st and a prospect not named Mailloux (maybe a couple others, I dont feel like looking into it too seriously) or I’ll wait the year.

Best I can do is Armia with salary retained and our Panther first. Anything more just for an extra year and his contract rights seems crazy to me when he’s a UFA in a year.
Whoever wrote that is an absolute moron there is no universe they are trading Dach unless it was for a mega star ala Tkuchuk trade which won’t happen anyways
Yeah, fuck off. I was actually a proponent of trading for Dubois rather than taking the risk he’ll come via free agency, but the fact that Winnipeg apparently want Suzuki is fucking insane. They have no leverage. Montreal trading with them is us throwing them a bone, and to make this transition go smoothly, not because we *need* to do it. In what world do they think they can ask for a player that is arguably as good as the player that is halfway out the door already? Even Dach is a non-starter for me. He’s young, on a cheap deal, and was already on pace this season to put up only 8 points shy of Dubois’ career high.
Dvorak, Anderson and a 1st is already more than I would have expected us to offer honestly, and if I were Winnipeg I’d have taken that and ran. Now I hope we just do nothing and let them lose Dubois for nothing.
Literally just waste one more year then we can sign him UFA. Why give up assets for him? Whatever we’d be happy sending, they wouldn’t want to receive
Not our Dach! I think the Jets would be happy with a combination of two or three pieces of Anderson, Farrell, Eddy, Dvorak, Ylonen, Struble, Kidney, Flo’s 1st and other picks.
The absolute best asset they can have is Florida’s pick, you can fuck off with the rest.

I do remember the Suzuki shit last go around, still as laughable as before. That would basically be a lateral move. If Dach is the “furthest” they’ll come down to, hang up the phone and wish the peg good luck on getting a return on par with a one year rental elsewhere and we can circle back with Pierre next summer lol.
Thanks to PLD himself, Winnipeg has basically zero leverage. We can wait them out too because we’re not in a win now mode either. Don’t want to come down on the asking price? Fine, we can wait til March. Still don’t want to come down? Fine, trade him as a rental at the deadline or let him walk for free.
Do the Winnipeg Jets think the Habs are going to give up a core player for a 1 year rental that is just going to sign with us in 12 months anyway?
