Oh god please no… Bergevin's entire career was hard-carried by Carey Price and yet despite having one of the greatest goalies of a generation boosting his numbers he's still considered a failure… I don't know if my battered Leaf heart could cope with that guy running the team, that might be the breaking point for me.
Anyone BUT him! I'm a Leafs fan, and I want him nowhere near Toronto. We can kiss our chances of winning the SCF in the future goodbye with him. Put it this way – if he was so poor with Montreal and learnt minimally from it, he'll do the same here. I'm sorry, but I have zero confidence in Bergevin and would much rather have NYR's former head coach replace Keefe (latter remark = /s, because he's also gonna ruin the team).

I'm a leafs fan and I actually don't hate it as much as some people lol. It would be fascinating for sure. At least he has the balls to negotiate with the top guys unlike dubas

As a habs fan I know Bergevin is getting a lot of hate right now but I honestly think he would be the perfect candidate for the leafs. Hear me out before roasting me. I'll give you his strengths first.
He was very good at making trades for the habs. Apart from the Drouin/Sergachev deal his trades were among the best ones of any GMs. He got a LOT of steals and barely any lost. Just go take a look at his trades history if you don't believe me. And he would come at a very good time since the leafs are probably looking at trading some very good core players. He's got a lot of "gut" too, he isn't afraid to make tough decisions. The Weber/Subban deal is the perfect example. The leafs in my opinion would really need a guy like that, cause some big changes absolutely needs to be made within this organization. Also, last point I want to bring out is the team culture he built during his time in montreal. He is someone who really values the culture and the workethic of the team. Even if the habs never was one of the top nhl teams, we were always competitive during playoffs time and we got some nice run because our depth was solid and we had many guys with caracter. The leafs always had difficuties to build a team around their "core 4". Maybe Bergevin would be the right guy to help fill the team better.
Obviously he has his flaws too like any other GMs but I feel like his strenghts aligns pretty well with what the leafs need to be looking for.

Marc Bergevin Has Done The GM Job & Done It In Canada For Montreal & Speaks French. Stay Tuned, Should Be Interesting To See Which Direction The Toronto Maple Leafs Go.

I love it, he would bring a set of eyes from another organization without any internal bias. The good news is they have Cap & Roster Flexibility because of all the free agents.

Bergevin's biggest flaw was not the moves he made, it was the moves he didn't make. Generally, he made relatively good trades. Usually it was tinkering around the edges, but he wasn't afraid to make a splash. He had his wins, he had his losses. But his worst trait was he could be so reluctant to pull the trigger that he often went into the season with a glaring hole somewhere in the lineup. Also, in free agency he sometimes found a diamond in the rough, but he often overpaid for players. He does know how to build a deep roster though
