@Canucks de Vancouver

OEL for a bucket of manure. Sounds fair

I feel we have a few guys that we should be able to move out (without paying to get rid of) that will give us a buffer. Between Boeser, Garland, and Beau should be able to move one or two.

I wonder if a basement cap team would be willing to take on 1 year of Myers after we pay his bonus for maybe a later draft pick or something.

OEL and Garland for someone’s 1st rounder, and some contracts expiring next year…

  4. BeastMasterWithAnR

Looking at new homes for Garland and/or Beauvillier is my guess.

  5. nite_awol

Garland and Beauvillier could fetch us 2nds I think.

I wish them luck. Many teams will be attempting to do the same, many with generous sweeteners.

I wish them luck. Everyone knows we’re in tough with cap, and everyone knows that the players we want to move to fix that problem are not great. There is going to be some high asking prices to fix our mistakes of the past unless we get super, super creative.

And then we’re going to hear at the start of the season that it was too hard to make trades to clear cap space. The same old bullshit all over again. Get ready to ride the merry go round of excuses.

I hadn’t really looked too closely at it until today but the UFA class this year is fucking abysmal so guys like Garland, Boeser, Myers, etc might actually have some value for teams that don’t want to hand out like a 6 year contract to Severson or Tyler Bertuzzi.

Heck, I wouldn’t even fully count out the Miller talk firing up again.

Calgary, Buffalo, Detroit, etc are bubble teams that could prefer to find an upgrade via trade rather than spending in FA and then even a team like Chicago is going to need to find a few guys who can stick handle so that Bedard isn’t mobbed 5v1 every shift.

Only issue is that the Canucks aren’t the only team looking to shed a few playable but overpaid bodies so these teams will probably have their choices.

Boeser for 5th round pick incoming

Hopefully a healthy OEL has an Erik Karlsson-like resurgence next year…. Yeah it’s a long shot but it’s all we got

    Getting rid of more picks?

    Classic

Canucks: Oh no, we’re over the cap! There’s nothing we can do!

*Allvin looks at the defence core, and at OEL, who has had 5 separate leg injuries in the last 2 seasons and is getting paid 7.2 million to do nothing*

Fans: You could just… buy him out-

Allvin: I see nothing wrong here, let’s trade Garland!

I was surprised when JR said they would explore buyouts in the first place. None of the buyout options are very attractive for next year.
