  1. I tried watching this 5 or 6 times to see if there's ANY reason why he'd cross check him, and I can't find a single one. He's a long time veteran and the CAPTAIN, there's no place for him to be intentionally trying to severely injure a player. He should know better than anyone on that team how to stay disciplined and control your emotions since he frequently makes playoffs and was in the cup final a couple years back. He clearly did it intentionally as he looked down at him before doing it, he deserves at least a 1 game suspension (since they'll lose next game anyway) and a hefty fine.

  2. What a horrible excuse for a "captain" – great job Benn. Down 2-0 in series and you leave game 3 two mins in and let your team deal with a 5 min penalty

  3. ok so you call this, but you fail to call hits similar and harder than this through out the play offs… THis is surely Garys team, the refs, playing stupid – this guy has to go, he is distroying the sport.

  4. I used to play ice hockey until junior teams. What I can say is that I don't understand what Benn was thinking if he was thinking at all. During the play, the most useless player is a player gliding on his back. On his back, he has zero view of the situation on the ice, he's basically like a dropped stick which may be in the way but nothing else. And it takes the player moments longer to roll over, stop the glide and stand up than in any other position. Basically, if you hit the player and he falls gliding on his back, your job is done the best possible way, and you just step over him and continue with the play. You will be one the other side of the rink by the time he stands up. It's not a rocket science.

Even in the heat of the game, you just don't cross check someone in the neck, and definitely not while falling on him with your weight in purpose. That's the most stupid and extremely dangerous thing to do.

  5. It's always surreal when hockey commentators don't even comment the extreme violence of infractions like that

  6. Good call from the refs. I wish it was policed and penalised more
Same with slashing. Its dirty and dangerous.
I wish the refs would also call high sticks, trips, hooks, interferences in the playoffs and I wish it was any consistent what's a penalty and what is not.
You have to pay a lot of money to get front row seats, and the refs cam watch the game from even closer and even get paid for it

  7. As a repeat offender Benn should have at least a game suspension. In regular season he's probably out for three games.
