Think about what Ekholm means for a guy like Broberg , big Swedish defender comes in could help teach Broberg who has been pretty good this year to take the next step and potentially be another Ekholm type defender

Barrie was very good last 2 seasons for Edmonton. Bouchard isn't ready and they needed a veteran to quarterback the pp and play top 4.

Everyone was whining about the lack of trades by the Oilers and now they will whine about the trades made. Can’t win in this market. 😂
There will be some learning and adjustments needed on the powerplay but there is definitely an upside on preventing goals with Ekholm.
Now they need to find another cheap right D.
The trade for ekholm wasn’t really one I wanted but it was one we needed. If I had it my way we could’ve kept Barrie and traded ceci and maybe Bouchard instead. Edmonton is a really offensive team though so defence is really what we needed
Ekholm trade definitely hypes me up for tmr! ! Now we got the defence piece figured out, it is the time for goalies to step up! No more excuses! we have no problem scoring too! I hope it is not the last trade I see this year from Oilers.
2 roster players 1 was pp dman the other was leading in hits and big body 1 1rst 1 4th and prospect for 1 dman and prospect and somehow that is a winner

As much as I hate to see Barrie go I am optimistic with this trade. Would of liked to see Nsh retain a bit more salary(1.25M) with what we gave up. Let's Go Oil
EXCELLENT! Ken took in a lot after the Boston game. A lethal PP is a great-to-have, but is powerless against a team with a disciplined D-system; a shutdown D-man is in much more urgent need right now. McDavid just said you never know which piece will bring the team over the top.
After all of Holland's critics, he was patient and hit 2 home runs. Getting rid of 100% of Jesse's contract without having to send anything else to convince someone to take him is massive. And Ekholm is 100% the right choice over Chycrun. Ekholm has missed 20 games for injury in his 719 game career, Chycrun is injury prone and not as good defensively as Ekholm, and defense is what we need. Sad to see Barrie go, but we don't need him and Bouchard, and we needed to move the contract to make this possible so it is the way it is – Bouchard's the new PP guy now.
Couple more small moves and we're ready for the run! GO OIL!
Y Matthias Ekholm career states really ain't much on paper and he's older prob slower and 2 more years then Barrie on less he's the defensive d man type I guess can understand that I just don't c the big pic on this team is to fast I'm not sure if he lives up to that go oilers 🎉
If Campbell plays tonite I hope he sticks it to his old team pretty good shutout would b better 😅
