Modern NHL? Lidstrom. I’m not sure guys like Yzerman or Howe would be as dominant in the current NHL and Datsyuk is amazing but a lot of what he did would probably generate penalties now unfortunately.

Gordie.

Lidström, he is arguably the best defenseman to ever play the game for a reason.

Howe. Hands down. His talent plus the skill and abilities of today’s game would equate to a very serious boon for our team (again).
If we’re talking they’re 18 but they will develop into who they were at their prime in real life I’m taking The Captain as he is statistically better than Datsyuk and would still fit into today’s game I think.
Lidstrom is legendary don’t get me wrong but right now we’re seriously lacking in the scoring dept.

Howe would fuck up the modern NHL. The guy was a mean son a bitch on the ice and didn’t take shit from anybody. It’s be like having a much better version of Tkachuk or Shanahan.

It’s Yzerman and I don’t think it should be much of a decision. Top Line two-way center is more valuable than a wing (love you Gordie). Plus, assuming that this is modern NHL, Yzerman’a game will translate better from the 90s than Howe from the 70s.

There isn’t really a wrong answer here. All 4 of them are better than any player we currently have in the organization and its not even close.

Lids. He’s the greatest defenseman not named Bobby Orr. Gordie would be a little undersized in todays game as a power forward but his longevity would carry a franchise a long time.

Lidström, just feels right to build from the back out.

Yzerman. Fantastic talent, excellent person, great leader.

Adding another vote for lidstrom. Though this is really just picking which 10 out of 10 you like.

That’s not fair…🤣 I would probably take Steve.

Yes, Howe was talented but he also blurred the line between legal and illegal.
He wouldn’t be able to get away with his infamous elbows in today’s game and then when he isn’t feared for not giving a fuck – I don’t think he has the same trajectory career wise.

Someone also mentioned Yzerman as great 2way center. When he was 18, he was all gas, no brakes. He didn’t start working on his defense until Scotty Bowman got him to buy in. That was in ’93. Yzerman was drafted in ’83.
So the problem with this premise is that you want ’93 Yzerman performance at the age of ’83 Yzerman – it’s not happening.
