@Stars de Dallas

1. Otter is the future… he’s still young and the best net minder we’ve had in years. He’s been too good for me to say he isn’t “it” at this moment. Hopefully he’s learned from the last few mediocre to subpar games he’s played. It is too bad it had to be during the playoffs though.

  2. Oettinger set the standard in previous series and has failed to meet it in this series. That's on him.

  3. Especially when before the series all i heard was vegas had no chance because of ott.

  4. Benn must of had Birddog shorts, he couldn't wait to get on that golf course

  5. Jake has been disappointing most of the playoffs. Sure, he played well in a few of the games, but those were more of the games I expected from any good goalie. Don't really think he was great in any game and never felt we were safe with anything more than a 2 or three goal lead late in games. Way too easily beaten on many shots. There's a lot to work on this off-season, and i hope like Dane says, he does that. I see a lot of breakdowns defensively in the other Eastern final too and the saves those goalies were making were more than equal to the high danger shots that Otter was letting in and they were standing on their heads. Think last years playoffs were a bad thing for Otter. Set the bar way too high.

  6. Here's the long and short of it otter can play good don't get me wrong but there are a lot of times where one can get by him when he's not Positioned ideally a lot of time its that way when he's way too far from the goal to actually guard from multiple positions we're all it takes is a quick pass and quickfire to get by is it compared this to Anton a dobens run that carried us to the final back in 2020 you would notice that he was playing a lot closer to the post and at times right on it making sure that there are were practically zero if any openings that's how we got there in the first place is he was locking it down for us honestly the way I see it otter needs another goalie that could mentor him specifically concerning his positioning when he defends

  7. Lol! Some of these arm chair fans who never skated a day in their life making negative comments like they know it all.

    Y'all are a bunch of total 🤡's.

  8. Bc he's choked. He's the best in the league. Just not during this series or really playoffs. He should be playing as good as Bobrovsky or better and he's suckin. It's ok though. Have to lose to win. He'll be fine. Hopefully he learns from this epic choke. That said, he's played decent this series in the 1st two games, but the rest of the team hasn't shown up. Also he should play around 50 games in the regular season. Wedgie going down didn't help. He's still our future. Dallas needs to add some players with balls. I've said it all playoffs. This is a baby shit soft team. Weakest Stars team I've seen since 95. Benn should have hurt kirill in game 1. He did nothing. Nobody did. Nobody stood up for Pavs. Benn is a ghost until game 3 in the WCF and for no reason, takes an idiotic penalty. Stone is still the one that put his arm up and deflected Benn's stick into his own neck, but Benn was ultimately responsible since he initiated contact. Refs are trash and deserved shit thrown at them. NHL must do something about refs and DoPS. Eberle breaks Cogs neck. Nothing. Bennett actually tries to injure someone with a cross check to the neck. Nothing. Peter goes McSorely on drai. 1 game. High stick against Isle. Nothing. Series over. Canes player taken down last night. Nothing. Kitties get a pp right after. Series over. Miro takes a puck to the face. All good. Goal scored game lost. Vegas player blocks a shot? Play blown down. Kitties player blocks a shot? Play blown dead. If I were betting, I'd sue the shit out the NHL for doing nothing to make the game/series fair and consistent. Lastly, I thought you were looking for a new team Dane? Thank God you weren't around when Hatcher or Morrow were playing. You'd be in the fetal crying after a game about how mean they were.

  9. You need a goalie who bends but won’t break and he has snapped like a twig on about 5 separate occasions during these playoffs.

  10. Otter is out of gas!
No goalie has won the Stanley Cup after playing
more than 60 games in the regular season since
Marc-Andre Fleury played 62 with Pittsburgh in 2009. The average number of regular-season games for Cup-winning goalies since then is 44. Otter has currently played 78 games including the playoffs this yr. Yes, to say he’s done, overrated or “lost it” is comical.

  11. Crazy to think people actually believe Jake isn't a long term solution. He's amazing, is he a little rough at times? Sure, he's also not that seasoned. We have a great history if goalies in Dallas and I'm sure they are in touch with Jake. Even if they're not, he's gonna get better. You can see that he's not the kind of guy to just call it a day when he can improve. Give this team 1 or 2 more years, get some good players in trades that have a steady hand and we will be looking like we did in 99. It's coming

  12. I have been somehwat critical of him. But he is young and he is the future of our team. He needs to understand there are ups and downs and learn to "always" have his head in it. I would sit him for tonights game. He needs to understand his position in the NHL is not guaranteed. Still my team though, sometimes tough love is necessary. GO STARS!! Give us at least 1 win please 🙂

  13. Just so you Stars fans know, as long as you have DeBoer your lives will get worse, his track record shows that his first year is always his best. And he's absolutely horrible in dealing with goalies. Don't believe me, look at his short tenure with Vegas. Also, as SJ got a bit older he could NOT adapt. Heck he didn't even recognize Aiden Hill as a good goalie while he was there. I think Ott's biggest issues are, Dallas isn't consistent on defense, and more importantly, I think he was overplayed at the end of the season and is tired.

  14. He's shown through these playoffs that he'll give up goals in bunches. Elite goalies don't do that, therefore he is not elite. He is good and has won some games for the Stars in this playoff run but not near enough. The OT goal in game 2 against Vegas is the worst play I've seen a goalie make in a decade easy, just absolutely pathetic quite honestly. Having an 0-5 record all time in OT in the playoffs is abysmal. In OT your goalie has to be your best player and looking at his record in the playoffs in OT and the Stars horrible record in OT through the regular season he just doesn't get it done for whatever reason. The numbers don't lie.

  15. Why are we turning our backs on him? Well, you can be a competitor all you want, I know Otter is, but you have to recognize that it's healthy for your psyche to take days off. They rode Otter too hard the 2nd half of the season and he looks exhausted. When you have a reliable backup like Wedgewood, why not use him? If you give Otter a break over the course of a month and the Stars are .500 at the end of it, then so be it. Otter will be better than that so you're still net positive in the win column.

Now that Otter is playing like shit, Robo's blame is being forgotten and he's probably very thankful for that. Dude has been a ghost all playoffs… He better be hurt at the end of the season because there is no excuse for his play or lack there of. As for Domi and Daddy, they need to be resigned.

I believe Marchment should be moved and his cap friendly contract should be easy to move. We have too many star caliber prospects to hold on to unproductive NHL players. Roll the dice with the kids.

  16. Benn needs to read up on the definition of "Leader." I get making an emotional mistake in the heat of the moment in a game situation…then you own it, apologize and commit to trying to do better. Benn chose to do the exact opposite. That press conference was a joke. He insulted all of our intelligence on what he did in that play, and showed a total lack of personal accountability and leadership…lost a ton of respect for him. I don't say this lightly, but he needs to be stripped of that C on his jersey.

  17. Hopefully 🤞 Otter has learned from his mistakes but it’s not all his fault even though he has had bad games. When did defense falls apart in front of you, you can’t stop every single puck. Granted he’s been out of position maybe he could improve his game on that front. Why are goalies asked to be Superman between the pipes and stop everything?? I think the defense needs to be tighter in front of Otter, to help him out back there, the last couple of games the VGK have been able to get through and score at will. Otter 🦦 is the best goalie they’ve had in years after Eddie Belfour and Andy Moog, he’s got stuff to learn as a young guy. I’m sure he’s exhausted after being relied upon all season to this point. They’ve got to “play their game” control the pace and rhythm, be more aggressive offensively in my opinion. I’m not sure that they can rattle off four wins, it seems pretty unlikely but I guess we’ll find out.

  18. Oettinger is at an age when most goaltenders are still in development and playing in the AHL at best. He's had a not so great run but even the greatest of the great have had their bad runs in the playoffs. Furthermore, your team is also a BIG reason why goaltenders are successful. I am not worried about Jake at all, he's young and will bounce back from this and will be motivated to work at his craft even more to get better. He also played a TON of games this season and he had never played as many games before. My gripe for the team isn't Jake, its the poor and inconsistent play of both his defense (minus Heiskanen) and forwards who have been terrible (hello Jason Robertson), minus Pavelski, Hintz (Johnston has had some good moments). The Stars secondary scoring overall has been pretty bad and their puck possession and turnover ratio has been even worse. Expecting your goal tender to stand on their head every single night regardless of everything else is just not realistic. Yes Oettinger has not been very good this post season, but, frankly most of the team hasn't been either. Jim Nill has a lot of work to do in the offseason and will have to work on finding some depth while managing the cap at the same time.
