    what a missed opportunity

  2. Rowdy_Roddy96

Bet you anything it would have gotten Ivan Barbashev included in the trade

I….feel like we knew this already? Maybe it wasn’t confirmed but I remember at the time all the analysis was that deal doesn’t get done unless we ship Kerfoot or RoR retains – so I feel like this was a given?

  4. Getting traded to Chicago and then Vancouver in short succession would be a real hit to the ego.

  5. I continue to firmly believe that there was another trade, that did not happen for whatever reason, that would have sent out Kerfoot, a d man (probably Holl) and that 1st round pick (plus maybe more picks a prospects), with the leafs bringing back another top 6 LW.

i would have rather used that cap to keep sandin

I’ve been among Kerf’s biggest haters but guy had three big goals in the playoffs, he wasn’t the problem.

If you’re going all in, as the Leafs were at the deadline, keeping a 4th over Kerfoot wouldn’t make sense at all. The question is would you rather have Kerfoot or Engvall, and since Kerfoot is more versatile they went with him.

  9. This isn’t new information, this came out around the time of the trade.

Kerfoot is worth a 4th, and if you don’t agree you’re just looking for a reason to be mad.

Kerfoot wasn’t an issue in the playoffs. That being said he won’t be part of the team moving forward along with Holl so everyone can move on.

I’m shocked Kerfoot made it to the end of that contract without being dealt.

What a disaster that Kadri trade ended up being. I know it needed to be done, but not badly enough to take as much of a haircut on it as we did.

  12. Crazy that Kerfoot stuck around instead of Sandin.

Sandin apparently didn’t even request a trade

Let foot was awesome in the playoffs, he was going 100% every shift

  14. FutureAnybody

Yup and we ended up going the double salary retention route instead. Did he score a few timely playoff goals? Yup. Was his 3.5M probably better utilized elsewhere? Also yup

    Who honestly cares

Lord knows that if he was we’d be still playing right now /s

We sold so low on Kadri that we got a 3rd line winger and, Barrie.

Maybe he wasn’t the problem, but was no upgrade. That’s great that you kill penalties and skate up and down like a crazy person with nothing to show.

Wasn’t going to win anything with him in the lineup either way.

I think we already knew this and it isn’t a report. Really this is just a smart trade 100 times out of 100 you would trade a 4th round pick for Alex Kerfoot. They traded the 4th to Minny for retention to keep Kerfoot. That is 100% the right move.

Looks like you owe Kerf a beer or two now, eh?
