  1. If it means losing OEL's contract, I think I would pull the trigger and drop from 11th to 19th. That contract is an anchor that will hinder the Canucks for the foreseeable future….$7.26million until 2026-2027. It's even worse when you say it out loud. But the roadblock is OEL has a NMC…so nothing happens without OEL's approval. Allvin will have to get creative, and shed some contracts before long. Thanks for posting, Trev!

  2. Wouldn't mind that trade if we can't move into the 4-6 range for Michkov. Still would'nt want to move the #35 pick though.

  3. I could live with one more year of Tyler myers 💩 contract. But they must take OEL Garland and a young center coming back. Plus their first and 2 seconds.

  4. OEL has a ntc so he ain’t going nowhere unless Boston wants him unless he has added teams he willing to move to and honestly myers can be traded easily after his 5 mil bonus is paid… personally I think garland and boeser have some value that don’t need a 1st rounder added to a deal to move… I like the idea of them tryin to move up the draft for Leo Carlson but don’t see it… if they trade there 1st it needs to be a big trade losing a contract while bringing a good piece back but hey that’s just my two cents…

  5. I wouldn’t be jumping up and down over this trade but I would be ok with it in the long run, there’s other trades that could happen to allow them to clear up even more space after this too!

  6. Bad deal, but if Blackhawks willing to accept myers + one of the boeser or Garland, it could be consider😅

  7. GO Hawks!!! I would not give up two second rounders I would trade the 19th pick a second round pick and a looping recording of Chelsey's Dagger to remind the Canucks that we owned you in the playoffs during our run

    Thank You

  8. A Hawks fan here – I would be OK with the proposed trade. Ideally I'd like to acquire #11 without giving up #19 by doing something like taking on OEL's contract and one of the other players listed in the proposal. Add in 2nd rounders and/or the TB 2024 1st the Hawks have.

  9. More likely the Canucks only get the 2 2nd round picks and the Hawks keep #19. No way they take on bad contracts and give up all that draft ammo. Keep dreaming Canuck fans!!

  10. I cant see why any team would trade their 11th pick. Not in this draft. Maybe 14 to 18 makes more sense. Then it might be worth 2 seconds and 19 plus getting rid of a contract. Hawks apparently like somebody they think won't be there at 19
My guess is one of the 3 top rated Defenseman or Wood and Barlow. I would stay at 19. A least 2 good players will drop. Someone always reaches.

  11. The Blackhawks already have an onerous contract, a parting 'gift' from Stan Bowman – a ridiculous Seth Jones contract for eight years at $9,500,000 per year. No way are they going to swallow another one from the Canucks to take OEL off of their hands. He's all yours for quite some time to come.

  12. That's a bad trade for the Blackhawks because in this exceptionally deep draft their is not that much difference between #11 and #19. If they do not make a trade several high quality big frontline players (center or wing) will drop down to them. In this draft pick #35 is similar to a low 1st round pick in most NHL drafts. Only way the Blackhawks make this trade is if the 2nd round pick does not include pick #35. And, dream on – they will not give Vancouver two 2nd round picks to move up 8 spots and eat the salary one of your ridiculously overpaid players. for several years.

  13. Bad trade for my Hawks. To take your bad deals should be a straight 11 for 19 with Hawks getting a bad contract back.

  14. That's a massive overpayment for the Hawks.

take one of those seconds off, then its better.

  15. It all depends on what the "bad" contract is. The Hawks already have a whole bunch of defensive prospects competing for only a couple of spots. So, I wouldn't count on it being Myers, or OEL, as some here are suggesting. They are going to be looking for forwards who could potentially play with Bedard, without stunting development. Boeser or Garland would fit the bill there. If the Canucks are THAT desperate to clear up cap space, I don't think the Hawks would need to trade more more than one of their seconds.

  16. 19, 51, and our LHD prospect Phillips(will probably be a 4-5 Dman good two way guy we just have so many LHD) for 11 and garland is realistic I think.

  17. the sharks dealt #11 last year to coyotes for picks #27 (#19 is eight spots earlier = more valuable), #34, and #45, and that's w/o taking on a contract. i highly doubt that the hawks would include two 2nd round picks, let alone pick #35, as well as a eating a contract.

  18. Hawks will have to take on a couple of bad contracts to get to the floor – this could be a resonable way to get there

  19. Chicago fan here. I think if I was the Canucks, I would make that deal in a heartbeat. I think it would be a good deal if it was just the picks without the player, but of course the whole point here is to give the Canucks some financial relief. What I think would be fair for both teams would be pick 19 and pick 35 for Boeser and the 11th overall pick. Boeser was a 23rd pick in the 2015 draft. The last two seasons he has been around a 50 point player making 6.5 mil. I think the Hawks would rather give up pick 44 than 35 though. They may want to make this trade before the draft so they can trade up again with the 11th pick if the right deal presents itself. What I would like to see them do is trade the #1 pick down to the Ducks and take an asset and Fantilli instead of having Bedard. Then they can package the asset and the 11th pick for maybe the 5th pick and get Michkov. This would fit better with the timeline for the rebuild and fit the player profile the Hawks are looking for. It would also give the Hawks a trading chip next trade deadline if they wanted to dangle Boeser, but eat some salary too. Florida does not have a Bedard, but they have grit and determination, and size. This is similar to Vegas. Should be a great final. Hawks in '28. Hope I am still around to see it.

  20. If anyone thinks the Hawks are eyeing defensemen in this draft, guess again. Next year they already have 2 firsts and next year's draft is much better for defensemen. I see the Hawks making a killing in the draft this year for forwards. As I have also stated, I would not mind passing on Bedard if we can trade down to 2 and get Fantilli and an asset. People think I am nuts, but KD seems to be holding his cards very close to his vest. He is capable of about anything if he thinks it plays into his plan for the rebuild. Skating, size, compete, hockey IQ and skill. Those are the requirements. Not to mention individual character. However, I have to admit that local sports journalists and vloggers are expecting the Hawks to take Bedard and act like insiders have already said so. That is fine with me, it just is a large new wrinkle in the rebuild that changes things a bit, or will it? Have your popcorn ready and Tums for draft night, it should be quite a show.
