Monahan would be interesting since he’s eligible for a special contract that can be stacked with bonuses. A prospective team could get him for league minimum on a 1-year, which includes millions in bonuses if he meets certain thresholds.
With how little cap space the Flames have, he could be a decent option for the bottom-6, and if he’s injured, then he doesn’t cost much anyway.

Would love to see Pelletier earn a good long look (and opportunity) from an excellent training camp. I think this coming season is the one to really see what the team has in its young NHL-ready prospects.

I think it would be wiser to see how the team plays under a new coach then to immediately spend cap-space.
The team needs to get younger and none of these players are realistically going to blossom into significant game-changers.
Better to stand pat, assess how the team is playing and let the quality prospects have a chance to play.

I’d be okay with either option, I could see mony coming back on a much cheaper contract and in a sheltered role here hopefully staying healthy
Barbashev would also be a decent option if we don’t overpay to bring him in, i’m leery about bringing in another UFA that hasn’t spent significant time here unless Conroy really can work magic to make guys want to be here lol
