I’m of two minds with this. It’s cool they broke all these records but then I see Florida steamroll the east and I’m back to being furious.

But it still hurts.

Personally even after the playoff performance, I find this to still be an amazing achievement.
In fact, I would go as far as saying this is more difficult than getting a Stanley cup.
To win the Stanley cup, you need the right team and timing. If you’re hot you can win. I want to be clear, I’m not trashing the Panthers here, it’s still an achievement but… I honestly believe the Stanley Cup is not truly representative of the best team in the league. It just isn’t. You need to beat 4 teams 4/7 times.
That represents facing 12.5% of the total league.
Winning 79% of 82 games against all teams in the league, to me, is far more impressive.
I don’t mean this as a disrespect to the Cup or its winners and I know “tHe ReGuLaR sEaSoN dOeSn’T mAtTeR!”, but it does and it was a remarkable feat.
It’s an actual difficult thing to do because it really is about consistency. The Cup isn’t as reliant on consistency as the season is by virtue of limited opponents and games.
That’s my take. The Bruins were a legendary team this season. Period.

I struggle with those who see this as a worthless achievement. The playoffs are unpredictable. You get injuries, surprise wins and losses. Players can completely flip in effectiveness. Very few teams are both dominant in the reg. season and the playoffs all the way to the Cup.
Statistically, it’s gotten harder to win the Cup as more teams are added. Winning the playoffs is nice…but I think fans need to adjust this Cup or nothing mindset.

This was a very fun special season that gave a lot of us 7 months of joy. That’s a beautiful thing. Those long months of deep winter can feel lonely and isolated but knowing it was game night and we’d hear jack and the crew was exciting and so much fun and got to discuss games yelling LFG with our community here on reddit. Beautiful memories that I’ll cherish.
Losing in the playoffs like that was disappointing. Unfortunately for me I do believe it’s the playoffs that show us what a team really is because there is pressure there. The regular season, especially if you’re in first place by a mile, has zero pressure so it’s easier to win and losses matter less.

Great Season, lots of fun.
Funny (not) after our first round defeat I said I bet the Panthers Win the Cup.
prountercoductive
Meh, regular season accolades are cool, but less satisfying.
I’d give all that up to be a team limping to a cup final than being almost a month removed from playing in May
blunsr
Totally blew it. A season like this losses total meaning without the cup.
Every cup winning team is better.

Still would prefer the Cup and imagine most, if not all, of those guys would too.

Honestly not sure my liver would’ve survived a cup run this year. Will heal up and go again next!

It’s like it didn’t even matter though and it’s their own fault (with help from Florida being an absolute force after waking up). But they had multiple chances to win and fucked it so can’t really feel bad for them personally
IndicationExtreme745
Totally meaningless without the cup, let alone a first round exit.
Cr0wl3yman
Nope. Meaningless with how they went out. Regular season means nothing once the playoffs hit. Set records for wins and points and then bow out first round?

Yeah, meaningless unfortunately, Bergeron is the actual protagonist and his supporting characters decided he was not significant enough to back him. Maybe when Sweeney is gone we can get the proper players to win.

Bruins fan, but about as meaningful as the 2007 Patriots. What a waste of a season.

I have to say, I honestly had no real hopes for this season. I thought with Cassidy leaving and a few uncertain positions that we’d just have a mediocre season. So really, I got more than I could have hoped for.

It sucks they choked in the playoffs… but as far as regular season’s goes I had so much fun watching. 63 wins, Winter classics was a blast (from what I remember) and my cat now has PTSD from horns and sudden excitement… Made up for the Pats and Sox just being terrible.
So many (alleged) fun memories watching the B’s from October to April

Amazing season, awesome memories. Even got to finally catch a game against the rags with Pop after 4 years.

I’ll admit it was an incredible season, but I’m just too raw until next season to have perspective on it
AhavaZahara
My teenage son and I watched almost every game together, and we texted when we couldn’t be in the same place.
19 years old and he chose to spend all those nights with his 50-ish mom, and sometimes my 80-year-old. It was so much fun. I’ll always cherish memories of three generations this season.
I was even able to take both of them to see the B’s play the Avalanche in Denver.
It was of my favorite seasons ever, but it will always be tinged with disappointment.
