– Taken in the expansion draft by Poile and the Preds in 1998, coached by Trotz.
– Scores the first goal in Predators franchise history.
– Coaches the team with Trotz as the general manager.

Weekes is a very reputable source. Solid hire, Burnette did a great job with Florida last year.
He was impressive as interim in Florida, but I just wonder why he wasn’t chosen to be full-time instead of Maurice. I’m excited for new blood and what a story for Burnette. From the Predator’s first ever goal to their head coach.
Thereâs still some questions on how good Brunette may be (Panthers flamed out of the playoffs last year under him and the Devils PP, which he was in charge of, was never as lethal as it could be) but I like the hire if youâre gonna go for someone new and not a retread. Good opportunity for him to run a team that has lots of potential but doesnât necessarily have the âCup or Bustâ expectations around it yet.
Makes sense when you consider the connections between the teams with Brunette and Devils GM Fitzgerald being on the inaugural Preds team under Trotz and Poile.

I was unsure about this at first because I wanted KT, but looking at the reactions of fans I trust and fans of teams I hate, I’m all in on this! Let’s go!!!!
Weekes for the most part knows what he’s talking abut so if be inclined to believe it.
It also makes sense so that helps it be credible too.
Love this hire. One of the top picks out there for an up-and-coming head coach. Has a pretty solid CV as a coach in the NHL having been an assistant coach under Mike Yeo in Minny, Coach Q in Florida, and Lindy Ruff in Jersey. Spent a year as a head coach in Florida as their interim manager after Q was blacklisted from the NHL where he led them to the President’s Trophy and was a finalist for the Jack Adams, NHL’s coach of the year award.
This is one of the top « non-retread » coaches we could’ve snagged. The other being Spenser Carberry who is rumored to be joining Washington.
I’m curious what this says about the Predator’s path forward though. This is a big deal hire. Not sure if he is going to be someone who would join our team if it meant we’re going to start tearing it all down.
Hating OP right now for the terrible title.
This is as much a good decision to coach our players through the rebuild as it is to bring our fans back into the barn.
