If the Canes want an impact piece, they’re going to have to trade for it. FA class is rough this year.
Some more credence to the trade rumors.
Just like last year, Don needs to be on the phones trying to take advantage of the poor management of some teams. There’s a lot of rosters that are full of contracts they need to move.

I actually had a chat with Don the other day, he was sitting outside my work. I run into him frequently. We chitchatted about the proAM. Should have put a bug in his ear about Wilson, still regret it. He gets his hair cut next door.

If we get things done before the draft, we still have a lot of picks we can package. We still have our 1st and 2nd which will help a lot
Canes have cap space and have shown they will use it in creative ways.
They can utilize it for short term help…or they could get really ballsy and make some blockbuster moves and alleviate some of the pressure on the next off-season.
This FO makes their moves in the off-season, so buckle in.
McDavid and Draisaitl for future considerations, and if they sweeten the deal with Nuge I’ll even throw in Jake Gardiner.
Give me one year of Pierre Luc Dubois please. Send them draft picks and any prospects not named Nikishin. This is the year to do it.

Guys I figured it out! Andrei Kuzmenko. 39 goals in 81 games and 35 assists. One year left on his contract at a 5.5 million cap hit and Vancouver is in cap purgatory. They’re already OVER and have to dump salary this summer. They also have to at least be considering a rebuild with that cap space and the lack of results from it. Kuzmenko is going to demand a higher salary by next summer and I don’t see how they afford to pay everyone, so somebody has to get moved eventually.
