End of the day, regardless of how it all went down, Dubas only won one round in his five years as GM. I get Treliving may not have had that much of greater success in Calgary, but time to see what he’s got, especially after Tkachuk last year, and what he can do with this team

  2. IAmTheBredman

I think he’s a good GM. I just don’t think he’s going to be an improvement on Kyle, and he’s certainly not going to have the upper hand in these contract negotiations over the next month.

Welcome to Toronto. Looking forward to the next Leafs season with a new GM.

  4. Svalbard38

Welcome to Toronto, Brad! He wasn’t my first choice, but he’s the GM of the Leafs now and he’s got my support.

  5. ExcitementMedical

    Get rid of Keefe, please.

  6. kingex11

Absolutely the right move. Sure, there were guys out there with greater potential and more intrigue, but the Leafs need an experienced and grizzled GM in this tricky transition period and Treliving is perfect for the job.

  7. howsshegoin

his first order of business will be comforting all the employees who are still in mourning

  8. TayOs1998

Does it really matter when Shanny has the final say on any move.

  9. Falcon_905

When your expectations are low, you can’t be disappointed.

  10. Kevin4938

When’s his opening press conference? I’m waiting to hear what he says about Keefe, the core 5, and other priorities before passing judgment.

And yes, I said « core 5 » – I consider Reilly to be part of the core as well.

I just had an eye doctor appointment so I’m kinda blind so imma pretend I can’t read

  12. Reggae4Triceratops

    I’m shocked!! 😲

  13. salmonthesuperior

Breathing a sigh of relief that we dodged the Bergevin and Chiarelli bullets

  14. EyeHeartBidets

    Nothing against Treliving.

    Fuck you Brendan.

  15. allinthek

For everyone harping on the Tkachuk trade and other contracts handed out, keep in mind that no one wants to play for Calgary because of the location. Treliving won’t be nearly as pressured to hand out greater $ or term because Toronto is a more attractive destination.

  16. SpicyP43905

I expect him to be one of our GMs of all time.

  17. JoeRoganHair

Next step… GET RID OF THAT FUCKING GOAL SONG !!!

  18. wheels1989

The rich get richer, love to see it. Auston Matthews signs at a discount to play in Toronto followed by a 5M per deal to be the spokes person for BP.

  19. man_in_the_suit

I personally think it is apt the Leafs GM is called Tree-living

  20. Will reserve judgement until I learn whether or not he’s madly in love with Holl and/or Kerfoot.

  21. nuleaph

well, I guess we could have done a whole lot worse. So there’s that.

  22. Stevet159

I just want to see a GM make it to their second contract in TO. This guy seems like he was hired for convince and will be easy to get rid of.

  23. TheLoomingMoon

Guy hasn’t even been at the helm 6 days and he’s getting tons of hate. Let’s see what he does first

  24. icheerforvillains

Everyone talks about how great a job being the GM of the leafs is and how everyone would want it… but if you look at the actual assets of the team, we aren’t exactly swimming in them.

    **Draft picks?**

For the next three drafts, in the first three rounds, we have FOUR picks total.

    **Prospects?**

If we consider Knies graduated, who’s next? Niemela?

    **Cap space?**

    LOL

    **Star Players locked up?**

    only Rielly

If being GM of this team was a videogame, Brad is playing it on Nightmare mode difficulty setting.

  25. DangleWho

He actually had a very impressive drafting record in calgary.

  26. dagnabbit-81

    At least it’s not chiarelli

  27. BackTo1975

Calgary thanks Treliving for a job…done.

Seriously, this is the best the Leafs can do? A retread coming off missing the playoffs with a track record of missing the playoffs and going out early when his team does get in? This was worth ditching Dubas?

All this is beyond idiotic. And it’s not even about Dubas for me. It’s about how this was all handled in such a spectacularly unprofessional fashion. And how it resulting in bringing in a new GM who’s objectively no improvement on the old GM, and arguably quite a bit worse.

  28. Evening_Extreme_1681

Poor Brad’s going to look older than his dad by the end of the season lol. Good luck Brad! This fanbase will age you faster than POTUS.

  29. Do leaf fans get free Boston pizza if they win?

  30. GritGrinder

I’m just glad they didn’t sign chia pet.
He should SET THE TONE by doing something crazy

  31. Mission-Astronomer42

    Could be worse…

At least we didn’t hire benning or chiarelli
