Blue line he kept things interesting I hated the Coffey trade then & I still do if the Kings had a decent goalie they might of won Hrudey always seemed out of position
Without Gretzky coming to LA the Ducks wouldn't exist.
I hope you mention the Stevens hit on Slava Kozlov in the 95 Red Wings Video. Also, I support Slava Kozlov as well as Ray Whitney to go into the THG Hall of Fame.
Most savage ref insult I've ever heard at a game. "Hey ref! Get off your knees, you're blowing the game"!
Can't wait to hear about the great final of 1994!
LA Kings day! Two videos in one day with the Kings as a main subject, cool. I'm too young to remember all of this, but that is why I got THG. I must learn more!
Nordique fan hate carey fraser to 😉
That should have been the leafs Stanley cup
I remember that crazy run all the ot games
I was a Kings season ticket holder that year, and I can tell you, we didn't like Fraser much either.
Never thought Kings Leafs game 7 would be topped. Kings Blackhawks game 7 did it
Roy was clutch, best playoff run by a goaltender. As a Leaf fan saying this, fans gotta get over the high stick BS, yes it was a penalty, yes Gretzky was on ice to score winning goal. Gotta get over it for 2 reasons, yes it was a penalty, but doesn't excuse losing game 7. And I love the Leafs but we were not beating Roy and the Habs in the finals, just not happening. So the high stick in my opinion is pretty well moot. GOLEAFSGO great video Shannon.
What if you do the Conference Finalists. Analyze every conference finalist. That’s a lot ik XD plz don’t do it if you don’t want to
I was 13 and I remember crying when Toronto lost that series
That 2nd game vs mtl was so crushing. I so wanted LA to win.
That 94 finals must still be your worst playoffs memory….
TOMORROW I'M GOING TO BE SALTY
you missed the epic details of McSorley and the stick. Being a die hard Habs from '85 into this millennium this playoff series I can remember vividly. Only the #3 seeds from each division made the final four and for Montreal it kept on working that the weaker team would do them a favor.
Montreal started down 2-0 vs. Quebec to only win the next 11 games with seven in OT. However it took the "May Day, May Day" to not have to face Boston, a team that had owned Montreal for the last five or so years and Buffalo was an easier opponent. Then Montreal got to watch the Islanders take out the dominating 2x champion Penguins and I was ecstatic at the time because I didn't like their chances vs PIT. Same with Tor/LA however living in the Toronto area surrounded by Leaf fans I also wanted that matchup even though I felt the Kings were an easier opponent. Leafs fans will keep saying they would have beaten the Habs in '93, but I don't think they would have as those twenty games I seen then were really fun.

You gotta mention this article in your 1994 video!
McSorleys stick!!
They were winning the game 3-2 with like 2 minutes left so that Gretzky penalty would have finished them
The Kings had a five on three power play in the latter stages of game two in the 93 final, at that point they were up by one goal. If they had scored on that power play, they would've had a two goal lead & be in a position to win the game & go back to L.A. with a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. The Kings couldn't execute on the power play which opened the door for the Mcsorley illegal stick penalty & allowed Desjardins to score the game tying & game winning goal. Instead of heading home with a 2-0 series lead, the series was even at one game apiece & the Habs went on win in five.
You left out the measuring of McSorelys stick in game 2 which basically handed the Habs the game and the series.
Also it doesn't make sense. You didn't want Gretzky to get another cup but you didn't mind the Habs win their 24th Stanley Cup?
The Toronto series was fantastic. Classic. And my fave goaltender of all time wasn't even a King at that point. Felix Potvin was the better goaltender in that series. But still, that series wasn't topped until LA-CHI in 2014. Good run, good synopsis.
😊
After the kings Oilers jr. experiment the rangers would do Oilers east in 94. Really the Oilers won 6 and appeared in 8.
I watched the entire playoffs this year, couldnt help feeling like Tor and Doug Gilmour shoulda won.
Pretty interesting to me how the Kings only faced Canadian teams in those playoffs.
I went to Game 4 at The Forum. Idiot Barry Melrose finally put Jimmy Carson back into the lineup. Towards the end of the third period or maybe in OT, I forget exactly when, Carson hits the post. If that shot goes in, the Kings likely win Game 4 and the series is tied 2-2!! The Kings would resign Carson but then Melrose wouldn't play him and eventually he was traded again.
Oh, the Oilers South, Jimmy Carson was traded for Paul Coffey-former Oiler.
If McSorely remembers to switch his stick to a legal one like Gretzky had reminded him to do in the 2nd intermission, there is no doubt in my mind that the Kings win game 2 and go up 2-0 in the series — and thus win the Stanley Cup (as hardly any teams have ever come back from a 2-0 series deficit in the finals).
Gretzky would have won the Conn Smythe Trophy that year if the Kings beat the Canadiens. Had that been the case, I believe he might have ended is career in LA instead of being traded to NY, but maybe not.
Had I known this would be Canada's last cup for over a quarter century, I would have never lent my support to Wayne and the Kings. You tricked me, Gary! LOL JK.
Gary Shuchuk scoring in game 5 double overtime in Vancouver was one of the most unlikeliest goals from one of the most nondescript players in history. Kings do not win that series without that goal, I believe Canucks had a hangover in game 6 from that one. I had followed Kings since before 99 arrived and the build up to that playoffs was mainly, "Ok, we won't have to play the Oliers, so let's go see what happens" Took until game 5 in Vancouver for folks to see there a potential for something special. Hated Roy from that point forward, especially winking at Sandstrom after save in LA.
You can look at the McSorley incident, but to me Gretzky backchecking and the puck going off his stick and going in his own goal was an omen to me, cant remember if it was Game 1 or 2 but told me it wasnt meant to be. First time i ever saw something like that happen to him
I knw im responding on a post thats a few yrs old. Im not a Kings fan, but since u mentioned the Kings Leafs series, Fraser didnt see it, no ref is not calling that penalty in something he didnt see. The Glenn Anderson terrible penalty w less than minute left in the game leading to a PP goal in OT is the overlooked play
