  1. Dead Cap from Luongo, Eriksson & now Baerchi & Golfobin not panning out makes it tough. Pete needs a scorer to pass to…

  2. Given how many games were lost by one goal, is 10+ points really that hard to achieve with a deeper team? No.

  3. It's a fun time to be a Canucks fan, these sports channels hate on them hard I hope we prove them wrong. I think it was TSN or these guys that called our roster brutal, as in brutally bad lmao.

  4. Murph wasn't in Vancouver, it was a GREEN SCREEN. Also, I don't care what Burke says, Vancouver is going to win the Stanley Cup and our lord Elias will take us there. We don't need the rest of you. This is between us and our sweet lord Elias, and the Flow, and Hughsey, and Capn BO, and Demmy AND DONT FORGET HOCKEY GAUD. SHOTGUN JAKE!!!!! Forget you Sportsnet, the 2019 Canucks don't need you.

  5. Do you really think talking negative about the Canucks will help ? Realistically ANY team can make the playoffs , and with the talent the Canucks have this year , you can bet your ass they will make the playoffs, it may take a few more games to get into full swing but they will be ready . If you want your team to do well you dont let negative vibes enter the program , it will only linger and be in the way , you must have complete faith that they will kick ass and nothing else will be acceptable . No team will be perfect so dont expect perfection but expect them to do very well and they will not disappoint

  6. Brian Burke is an over paid moron , how dare him talk about the canucks as if they are children , and what the hell does he get paid for anyways ?, what do most of these nhl spokesman do to deserve the incredible money they make? they dont do squat , and they know it , they probably look at their paycheck each time and roll over and laugh at how stupid anyone would be to pay them anything , , most of those hockey executives are complete waist of money , you should pay more to the commentaries like Dave Randorf , who does a great job instead of Burke who needs to retire and stay away from leaving his neg comments . Positive attracts positive and Burke is a neg , get rid of him

  7. I still harbour hopes for this team making for the playoffs but the key is limiting injuries to key players.

  8. One of the dumbest organisations in the league. So many overpayed players: Eriksson, Myers, Edler, Beagle, Roussel, Pearson, list goes on. Not all of these guys are necessarily bad, but the money they're making is killing the team. Petterson, Hughes, Boeser, Horvat and Markström is a nice core, but wow is it not deep enough.

  9. Trust me I got some inside people to give me the year end results. Canucks are in, 2nd in the pacific. That's what they said. Don't come chirping at me. It is what it is. Welp

  10. I'm cautiously optimistic. There was a stretch last season from the beginning of November into early December during which the Canucks went 3-10-3, which included a 7-game losing streak. Of course you can't explain away things like this entirely with injury, but you can't help but point in the direction of key losses at the time such as Boeser's groin troubles and both the third and fourth-line centres going down long-term. Early in the season there was one specific game where Baertschi, who was acting in a first-line role at the time was injured along with their entire top defensive pairing in Tanev and Edler, all quite long-term injuries. Few teams in this league can absorb losses of two-thirds of the first line, both bottom-six centres and the entire top defensive pairing within the same general timeframe and the Canucks understandably struggled. (There were other injuries in this timeframe like one to the Canuck's backup, which resulted in a badly overworked Jacob Markstrom with a depleted blue line in front of him.)

If they'd even played .500 hockey during this stretch, they come out with an extra seven points in the standings. Of course that's a lot of what-if's, but if they can stay healthy and avoid prolonged losing streaks this season, they have a realistic, albeit somewhat unlikely chance at playoff hockey in spring.

At the end of the day, the real teams for them to leapfrog are Central Division teams, as they'll struggle to pass any of the Pacific's top-three. There's a chance, but there's a better chance of securing one of those Western Conference wildcards. The question is, who do they beat out? Nashville, Colorado, Dallas, St. Louis, or Winnipeg? That's not to add in other teams like Chicago and Arizona which pose real threats to capture one of those last two spots instead, if one of those top five falls off this year.

It's unlikely the chips fall in Vancouver's favour. But it's possible, and the Canucks have surprised people before. They were thought to be bottom feeders last season and then remained in the playoff hunt a ways into the new year, despite losing 105 points of Sedinery from the year before. We'll just have to see I suppose, but the West is going to be lots of fun to keep tabs on.

  11. Don't worry Brian, no one is going to jump of any bridges over some negative bs you have to say.

  12. Benning should have been fired .. to many third and fourth line players who are over paid to long of term .. with no cap space to work with.. no way is this team making the playoffs … Myers terrible signing Hughes is not ready for the NHL … and this is not the NFL where they do have dead cap money … Beagle, Roussel bad bad signing what was Benning thinking… bring up younger players … hmm wonder what kind of system is green wanting to play this year .. nothing in the pre season …

  13. Lets get this straight , once and for all. The Tierny hit on Boesser may not have been on purpose, But ; lets face it. It was outright careless. This , " careless" , attitude other teams take with our star players is the problem. They're not worried about retribution so they can afford not to " Take care". This needs to stop..and I believe with recent additions it will…as long as the Canucks stop making excuses or accepting apologies for the Harm they do to our team .
