Back when ESPN showed Hockey
Bingo!
96 Panthers. Biggest fluke in hockey history.
I really wish thos pens sweaters were in nhl 20.
7:06 Announcers talking about the Claude Lemieux hit on Kris Draper
9:15 One owns a sports bar near Pittsburgh, the other beat his pregnant wife
That Martin Straka goal was filthy!
The intro goes so hard 💪🏻
Those Pens Jersey's were sharp back in the day.
can we get some retro mighty ducks games?
LETS GO PANTHERS!
Thanks for the retro recap. This one was good. Can i please have another? Im done with this one.
I'm sure the rats on the ice on every goal wouldnt fly in today's NHL. I bet a lot of people would complain.if social media existed back then
That play by Lemieux 10:33 was fuckin ridiculous.
RIP Tom Mees 🙁 Such an awesome play-by-play voice.
Back when hockey was actually tough
Maybe, even though Florida got swept there was only 1 lopsided game. The other 3 games were all close matches. Game 4 was epic. One of the best in playoff history
BEEZER
BEEZER
I remember watching this when it happened
As a habs fans i didnt know JJ Daigneault had played for the Pens
I was so mad when the Pens lost this series. I don’t think the Pens would have beaten Colorado in the finals, but what a great series that could have been – two offensive-minded teams in the dead puck era. What might have been had Ron Francis not been injured the round before, or had Jaromir Jagr not said he’d rather play Florida over Philadelphia before this series. No doubt, that went straight to the bulletin board in the Panthers locker room.
Dear NHL,
More. Please publish more of these gems. Just to hold us over.
Kthx
Panthers really haven't had a series win since this series huh
I am Kevin Miller
Nobody can clean between the pipes like Barasso.
That Panthers playoff run changed my life. I’m not exaggerating. I played hockey 21 years after that and played college hockey, all because of the Panthers. Swept against the Avs in the finals but the refusal to give up in game 4 —a 1-0 triple overtime game—was a big lesson as a kid.
Avs puts Panthers were they deserves. Pens vs Avs, a better final that we never see.
Then got swept by the Avalanche…SWEEP BABY!!
I miss Tom Mees. Was this the last game he called??
They should have called a delay of game penalty everytime they threw those stupid rats
I can't pin that voice, even though I know it; is that Gord MIller I hear?
The Panthers were hotter in the red.
This would be Tom Mees' last hockey broadcast before dying later on that summer in August.
God…the old Panthers team is better than the new Panthers team
Ah the good old days when Florida had fans🙃
I heard a legend that the only reason the Panthers haven’t moved is because they reached the Stanley Cup finals in 1996.
Loved this run, but why hasn't Tom Barrasso got the hall call? The guy was a great tender.
The Beezer was the man. Florida deserved to win the Cup, just because of how amazing he was. The Avs who beat up on my Wings, were just too much of a force.
U can really make the case that 90s sports was the peak of sports in America. Mlb, nfl, nhl, nba had an equal share of the sports worlds attention. There were stars in all 4 sports and they didnt out weight the other. The internet didnt blow up yet and personalities were able to shine.
What irony: Straka scoring the type of goal he would later go on to score WITH the Penguins
I was in the 5th grade this is the year I fell in love with hockey. Thank you for posting this classic
