That’s a surprisingly great article. I like how he breaks into different categories what most other sources amalgamate into one (e.g., edges and speed instead of skating).

Amazing article. I suggest for you guys to see his Michkov one also. Quite an interesting read

I think he’s our pick at 5

Maybe a *slightly* riskier pick but he’s looking better than Smith. He looks like the type of player who would excel in the playoffs too.
The question is, does Montreal want two smaller players (him and Caufield) in the top six?

I can’t see him going 5th.
He’s a smaller player and a big part of his appeal is his motor. You’d have to imagine that part of his game will suffer greatly when he makes the jump to the NHL and the physicality goes up 10 fold.

Anybody else worried about whether his passing ability will translate to the nhl?

Marco Rossi 2.0?

This guy does have a lot of « lethality » in his game… a PLY through and through, smart and does what opponents hate. When the puck is on his stick, it finds the back of the net somehow. He’ll run your power play, he might kill penalties, he’ll get you the goal when you’re down, and he’ll protect a lead.
He sees and thinks the game on another level. The last guy in the draft that I saw with his vision and lethality (outside of his contemporary, Bedard) was Jack Hughes (the 99 point one). Unfortunately for Benson, he doesn’t skate as fast as Jack Hughes, but fortunately for Benson, he might be a lot harder to play against than Hughes. I’m super high on this kid. He’s better than Savoie and Geekie, his teammates, and I don’t think it’s particularly close either (Savoie I still have mixed feelings about his game, and Geekie is a commodity).

Did t read the article but I’m here for Benson !! I love him so much. I would not be disappointed for a second if we picked him at 5. I’m even ok with passing on Smith for Benson.
