Making SOME changes to the Leafs’ roster IMO is necessary although which ones Treliving will make remain TBD.

The changes needed are on the 3rd and 4th lines. Need to get younger and more of an offensive threat .
If you were Treliving, would you be ruling anything out? In my book, maybe one thing … you can keep the core 4, you can keep Sheldon Keefe, make your own decisions. But the one thing you must rule out is that you keep the core 4 AND Keefe. Something big needs to change here. It's not working. Neither the Golden Knights nor the Panthers tolerate failure. It's not coincidence that they're in the Cup final. The accountability here and the tolerance for failing has to change.
On trading the core four … its too early to judge the Calgary-Florida trade but early observations would say that the Panthers won because they got the best player. I believe in that old adage … guy who gets the best player wins. How do you win a trade for Marner, Matthews or Nylander? Its possible, maybe there is a deal out there for an equivalent player in return for Marner or Nylander (top 5 #1 D, top 5 #2 Centre) but its extremely high risk to take lesser players in return. I don't think the Leafs can win a trade for Matthews.
There are really good coaches with experience out there – Gallant, Quenneville, Laviolette, Julien, Sutter. Keefe has had a few rips at the plate. Some great regular seasons but no success in the playoffs. Keefe is a good coach, but it's time to let someone else have a go.
On Dubas … O-Dog on Overdrive has been saying that Dubas' agent had the Pitt deal locked in … that its the only thing that explains how he played his cards. I think he's bang on. Personally, I lost a lot of respect for Dubas in this, not because of what he did but because of the greasy way he managed things. And don't forget … he decided to stay with the Leafs as his #1 choice … a team that was squarely in the "win now" window in the most iconic franchise in the NHL. Now he's with a team that has Sid (still an elite player), an aging Malkin and Letang who are fading more every year, together with a handful of bad contracts. "Win now" for them is not a strategy, its a wish. I think he's tarnished.
