#Habs Cole Caufield on not making more money than captain Nick Suzuki: "that's our guy, that's our leader…. and it's still a heck of a lot of money so I'm not complaining about anything like that"

What a bad question lmaoooo
Weird question but that’s the kind of thinking every young player should have. May he have had more money on another team that’s in different circumstances? Most likely a team could’ve thrown a load in an offersheet (Likely 8.5×5 to get to UFA and load another bag for only a 1st, 2nd, 3nd) and he could’ve seen millions more over the course of his career but he still gets that … It’s a fucking hell lot of money he’s getting. GG my scoring captain.
He saw what paying 10mil+ to 3 separate players did in Toronto and was like « Nah we good ».
I love this guy even more now (if that’s possible). This is what we need, more stars who take good but not over the top salaries, they can see the benefit to the team and their own hockey goals (pun intended) if they keep their salary moderate. This will enable us to build a better team around the core. Bring on SC #25!
What a hero. I’ve said it for years; if players were “content” making absolutely amazing amounts of money and didn’t let their egos try to get the most; it would help the team in a cap world. Players who want to be the highest paid guy in the league will have a lot harder time being part of a cup team. Unfortunately, I feel like PK suffered for this! He was just not worth 9mil. Price on the other hand was, in fact he would have had 12 mil probably, but ten was high but still ok. Anyways this is about having Caufield for 8 years. Life is good!!!
Players get a bunch of playoff bonuses right? So it stands to reason that leaving some money on the table to build a competitive team is a win-win-win
