  1. 6$m of cap space costs a 1st rounder. Boeser is literally worthless. If anyone takes him for a bag of pucks….

  2. Podkolzin works hard, receptive to coaching and does the little things right. That is the type of project you want in a player.
If he pans out…. a very good top-6 winger that can maybe pot in 30 goals. Worst case scenario…. he's a middle-6 player who will be a physical, energy guy, and with some offensive talent.
I would say he will be like a Dustin Brown (minus the chirpiness and borderline plays)… a solid jack-of-all-trades guy who will be a 40-60 points player.

  3. the canucks are screwed for the next 3 years at least. 3 more years of finishing with 80-somrthing points, drafting in the middle of the pack and the core treading water till they're in their late 20's. and aquilini wants to buy another hockey team?

  4. The fact the Canucks didn't fire the entire scouting staff after passing on Tchuck… says more about Aquilini culture in front office more than anything

  5. Fellas, last season Podkolzin was dumped at the bottom of the lineup playing with the likes of DRIES and KRAVTSOV, the year before he was playing in the Top 6 with PETTERSSON, MILLER, BOESER, GARLAND… How can you not preface any comments about Pod's development without acknowledging this fact? Please. This kid is going to be amazing if Tocchet ever gets out of his way.

  6. If Tocchet is a good coach he has to find a way to inject some of his own personality into Podkolzin's mindset. Get it in Pod's head that he will never lose a fight again, never lose a board battle, compete vs anybody and score or die trying. There is no player on the Canucks roster that bleeds inside every minute they aren't hoisting a cup. A tough guy like Tocchet needs to teach these soft players fire in the belly.
