1) Think Leafs number 1 priority is Matthews contract, The two Leaf goalies played well in the playoffs. Go with the devil you know – or the one you don’t? In Winnipeg Helly plays well – when he is sheltered by Adam Lowry’s & others strong defensive play missing in Toronto.
I think Helly might end up playing like Hutchinson did in Toronto. Hutchinson (former Moose & Jet) also looked good in Winnipeg (not as good as Helly) but Jets had Buff, Trouba, Chariot & a strong defence group (Lowry & Tanev). Leafs don’t.
The fact that the Leafs can have two good goal tenders in Woll and Samsonov for cheap, is great for the salary cap. The Leafs need a top Defensive pair and a forechecking left winger.

I like Woll. I think the Leafs need to get tougher in the top six. Sign Orlov with the Kerfoot and Holl contracts going out the door and move Nylander for a power forward ala Tom Wilson or Josh Anderson. Put Marner with Tavares to prop him up and play Matthews, Knies and Anderson/Wilson together…and get a coach who believes in North/South aggressive forechecking hockey. Ditch the periphery crap and the light, ineffective, slappy slappy slap stick checking for some more beefy hockey down low, net front hockey that can sustain a forecheck and get the puck to the net. Re-sign Acciari and Kampf. Tell Murray, he's either in a suit or on LTIR…and move him
Toronto has 2 great young goalies that will get better.Spend the money on better d men and stop just trying to out score everyone it just doesn't work in the playoffs when things tighten up.But spend money on a goalie before you add forwards that are just figure skaters Toronto has enough of these already.
I'm absolutely good with Hellebuyck, and for those who are worried that we need defence, not to worry…Treliving will work on making that better, as well some heavy wingers.

At $7.5 million salary and a cap hit of $6,166,000, this is NOT a goalie that I would consider trading an active player for. Woll and Samsonov will be fine. They need so many other things, a goalie would be the last on the list. Why would you want Hellebuyck when Adin Hill is available as a UFA.

Samsonov will be top notch one day. His numbers are already showing that. Samsonov is going to want 4 million easy but Helly is going to want 10 million. Don't think the Leafs will have that kind of Cap space for Conor. They need to spend it on Defensemen.
if Holland isn't in on him, I don't know what to say. Skinner gave them a top 10 worst of all time playoff goaltending performance. They breeze by vegas with even average goaltending.

I'm a #NHLJets fan… and can say that if we lose Helle, Jets go into a rebuild/retool, he is our MVP, our GOAT… and I've watched this team for many years. I'd rather we kept him in Winnipeg but my heart breaks that he tries so hard to drag the boys deep into the playoffs every year and since 2018 it's never worked well. He's had periods of struggle, to be sure… just like any other goalie in the NHL does… but his consistency and his effort never stops…. He's our workhorse.
Toronto, you won't know what's hit you if you get Helle… trust me on this. All I want for Helle is that he gets his Stanley Cup, it's all he ever asks for. If not with Winnipeg, then he deserves to go to a team that get to the Finals.
