I’m a teamless new fan this season from the UK. I’ve been getting into the American sports this season. I’ve come to really enjoy the NHL, NFL & MLB.

I’ve also fallen in love with the Golden Knights and Raiders. I’m gonna hold off on joining the fan base until after the playoffs, but I’m obviously hoping the Golden Knights finish it off and take home the cup.

As soon as the playoffs end, I’ll officially be joining the round table. I’ll be jumping in to Raider nation immediately and when Vegas gets a MLB team to their fan bases as well. See you guys around the sub and hopefully next season as we are planning a trip over to Vegas to watch the boys live.

Moneypuck is run by a bunch of schmucks

Vegas under Florida? Really? Didn’t they whoop the Jets in game last 1?

It’s all based on the bookie odds. Money puck aren’t dumb they’re just taking bookie odds and translating it into implied%. They have to adjust to where they think the money will land as well as what their models tell them.

Most nhl fans like to pretend we’re a bad team and will bet against us which shifts the odds, which gives us a low implied %.

Just remember this is a statistical model, it correlates past data with current data. So given n=1 sample size obviously there’s going to be some massive bias one way or the other

Based on that R1G1 performance those odds are what it deemed to best match the trend of prior R1G1 performances between two teams – as the series went further the model did better

Also it’s well known that teams like Vegas aren’t represented well by money puck… Hence why I don’t ever refer to it

There were a surprising amount (but obv not everyone) in the thread for Game 1 against Winnipeg that were acting like ebcause we lost that game, it was all over and the team was garbage and the players didn’t want it and Cassidy was a fraud etc. Crazy what can happen in a 7 game series and then 2 and a bit more

Keep in mind, the panthers who played the historical regular season Bruins, had better odds of winning the Lord Stanley than the west #1 seeded Vegas team

The amount of wrongness on that chart tells everyone they haven’t a clue.
