Eventually there has to be a plan to replace Carlson. A top pairing RHD is incredibly difficult to find on the market.
Fehervary, Sandin, Alexeyev, Haman Aktell – they’re all LHD and under 24. While we have Carlson, Jensen and TVR all over 32 years old on the right side.
That said, I really like Reinbacher’s game but he’s much more of a shutdown guy than a #1 D. I think he will have a very successful career as an elite #2 guy. I don’t think he’s a PP guy though.
His skating and willingness to play the body are what I love about his game.
Not sure Washington goes for him depending on who else is available at 8. If Benson or Leonard are there you probably take one of them. If they want Dvorsky in the lineup in October (which would not be a good idea) then they take him.
