Big Sens fan but absolutely love what the Habs did on the Caufield deal, i.e., absolutely fantastic for them and bad for us when we play against them. For us Ottawa fans there might a silver lining. If we ever sign ADB at a reasonable price then it will be likely that this Caufield deal helped Ottawa negotiate down what ADB would have asked for (given the 2 players have similar physical attributes and upside potential).
Josh Anderson, beyond his size, will invariably be one of if not the fastest straight line skater on your team. The comparison to Wilson is only surface level.
Seriously underrating Anderson. Habs got offered a 1st for him (from the Oilers I think?) and we turned it down because Anderson is more important than whoever we pick in the late 20s. Leafs really gonna have to pay up if you want him.

First of all love u guys. Second Andersen's contract while expensive doesn't really matter for a team that low in the standings. Third, all of Hab's nations loves the Caufield contract. While he's NOT the same, kaprizov got a 9 mil contract for a similar sample size. Nobody is comparing the two skill-wise, but whether u like it or not that's the time we are living in, u gotta pay for talent Fourth u were right, we should have traded Edmundson to Edmonton. Weirdly, I'm a Habs fan first and I have no worries about them as a franchise. I also live in BC and I'm way more scared about the direction of the Nucks yet they're only my second team. Habs country is pretty care free right now

If you don't understand what Anderson brings you don't get playoff hockey. Its not about points its about the type of game your team is comfortable playing. Its about the attention a player like that draws from the other team.
Leafs should put Marner, Tavares, and Mathews on LTIR for the coming season to free up the cap space and activate them for the playoffs. Vegas followed Tampa's footsteps and look where they are now.

If Tavares, Matthews and Marner signed like Caufield (earn a little less with the purpose of signing long term in a city he likes), the ML would have maybe at least 3MM more to get a better defense.

Anderson would be good for the leafs, but I don't know what the habs would want from Leafs roster given that we're not trying to win now. It would take a very good young player

okay, Montreal's Caufield signs for just under 8 mil but they haven't won anything other than Mr Slafkovsky. Florida, remember, gave 3 first round picks away, luckily enuff to explain Tkachuk's otherwise it was looking like the Rockies. Off the top of my head, Leafies have Knies, but if Treliving does his research he has the Marlies right in town and with unlimited budget can have how many players attending Marlies games?? Dubas 4.5 hours drive away from farm team, OLD roster players with NMCs, and his method of watching and drawing from farm team, doesn't help that he's hours away.
