1. Agree that Meir is not worth 8 or 9. Hope he and Bratt come back but if they want to play in NJ, they should take a team friendly contract, if not hope Fitz lets them walk. Severson is probably gone, wish him well where ever he goes (unless it is the Rangers).

  2. Trading Severson’s rights is a no brainer bc I don’t believe the team has any interest in resigning him unless it’s a 1 year deal. Any return is better then losing him for nothing.
They overpaid and gave Palat 6 million when they never should of, so I expect them to give Timo 8 million a yr for 7 yrs. Bratt could be traded. I think it’s 50/50 honestly. If he stays I’m thinking 7 million over 7 yrs.

  3. Timo played 21 regular season games. 21 games is not enough time to learn the Devils system. Fitzgerald brought this up in an interview saying the Devils system can be difficult to pick up, let alone any playbook in that time. Fitzgerald referenced the 2 times he had to do it as a player and spoke to how difficult it was. Players always seem to take a season to learn the playbook and develop with their teammates before they start to cook. Just look at Dougie Fresh's 62 games last year versus how well he played this season. I think Timo's best hockey has yet to be seen and regardless of how I feel about it he will be getting $8 mil per either by this team or another.

  4. Didn’t Timo also have like a ton of shots on goal during the playoffs?
I think he’ll do great here with some time. Especially looking to see how the powerplay could
    Improve with him

  5. Some guys like Taylor Hall played their best hockey career wise with 1 particular team… and for Hall, it was the NJD. Meier is not fitting in well initially with the current NJD lineup. But it was a short sampling of games and then right into the playoffs… and who knows about his future potential in NJ because he has mad skills and durability. We also traded a lot for the Meier experiment if we don't resign him. Fitzgerald is a low-baller GM and for that reason I'd guess he's going to loose a solid 30 goal scorer and a guy who fits in perfectly like Bratt, unless Bratt and his agent cave in, and they agree to loose maybe 5 million or more on his next contract. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think Fitzgerald is going to get Meier to drop 8 million total on a long term deal and sign below his market value with other teams. Severson does carry lots of minutes and he'll be great for a team that needs that and does not mind one catastrophic defensive error per game from him. But too many goals against us to remain IMO. So he will skate away with not much in return except we are glad he was on his best behavior after the trade deadline, and he definately helped us to get to the 2nd round. If it was me at GM, I would try to trade Palat also and offer generous buy back. He's getting way too much money and he was brought in for leadership… Nico and Jack are the leadership now.
