So disappointing… we need a fresh face behind the bench.. Huska always blames everyone but himself.. I am not a fan.. hopefully this is wrong

Damn, I really think it should be Love. We need a new face all-together in that room and it’d be nice to have our HC and GM grow together in the league.

don’t love it

Huska comes across as another Playfair/Gulutzan/Ward type of coach. Feels like the « safe » move; promote Huska to head coach since he’s « due » while naming Love assistant so he can learn the ropes. Would be incredibly disappointing though and would suggest this management group is just more of the same.

Huska a runner-up to the Detroit head coach position, it was promote or lose him for the Flames. I don’t hate this move, Huska has demonstrated experience in multiple pro leagues and with the NHL. He also has proven relationships with the players, meaning he isn’t going to have to earn their respect from scratch. And these players clearly have strong opinions on coaching…
I’d love to see Mitch Love promoted to get some NHL experience, he’s definitely proved everything he can in the AHL. And this means we likely lose Muller which… Is good news lol
Edit: not sure why this is a controversial take. It’s decently rare to promote from AHL to NHL head coach directly. Love is great but this isn’t a development job, he still has plenty to learn about the NHL level.

And the mediocrity continues…

I still think it’ll be love. The players have a say and I think they want a new voice. Huska was around for sutter

I dont get the hard on for love and why everyone is sleeping on Huska.
Love won coach if the year twice but had the goalie of the year bith years.
Huska gave us a top 5 PK this season and top 3 PK last season. He has more coaching experience than love. He’s had NHL exposure as an assistant that love hasn’t. He developed mang, dube, kylington and andersson in the AHL.
I watched the wranglers and the systems looked pretty unspectacular. Definitely felt like they got carried by wolf alot.
Plus love is the same age as alot of the core forwards and has 0 NHL experience as a coach or player.

My people, remember coaches get 1-2yr shelf lives. We have Backs, Lindy, Toffoli, Hanifin, Zadorov, Dube and Kylington as UFAs.
If the Flames sell, why not hire within and give the man a shot? Organizations should promote from within. If we compete, well, it’s better than Babcock.
This could be an avenue for players wanting to re-sign.

If this is true, I’m willing to give him a chance unlike so many of the doomsday posters on here.
Craig set a clear agenda on what he wanted, said he would talk to the players for feedback, and hire the best guy for the job. If Craig believes Ryan is the guy, then I’m on board with it. He clearly knows a lot more than ANYONE on here
