Baffling that people would even consider selling low on hubs even possible at this point.

That Arizona deal they suggested reads as satire. I can’t believe that gets published

I’d love to have a 10.5 million dollar player no one needs to make excuses for.

While I wouldn’t say the Flames will keep Huberdeau and Kadri long term, they’re among the only players I think are safe from being traded this offseason.

Lindholm and Hanifin could be traded if they’re not willing to sign an extension. Backlund and Toffoli could be traded to capitalize on their career seasons and high market value. Coleman, Tanev, and Zadorov could be traded to free up cap space. Mangiapane and Dube could be pieces in a blockbuster trade. Vladar could be traded to make space for Wolf.

Huberdeau and Kadri did not have great seasons under Sutter, and teams would be interested because there is a high possibility of a rebound. If the other team was willing to eat the full contract and the Flames didn’t have to give them anything else, I could see a trade happening; but most interested teams would either want the Flames to retain salary or give up picks and prospects.

If I’m the GM of the Flames, I am going to give both players a season or two to rebound. If they find their stride, you can get a decent return to move on from either player; and if they don’t, dumping their salary will be no more expensive than it was this offseason.

Why the fuck would Flames give up on a Huberdeau caliber of a player based on one bad year. Unless he wants out
