Sharks gotta nothing to lose – I say start this teenager!
He’s been contributing in the preseason has a few assists so why not? I, like yourself are around the tank a lot for work and right now it’s time for the Sharks to take the chance if it doesn’t work he can go down to the Cuda for some work but maybe he can provide a spark.
After losing Jumbo and Donskoi, I've always been of the mindset that the Sharks were in dire need of someone who could control the puck and slow things down for everyone in the offensive zone. Eklund is EXACTLY what they need, and I'm rooting for him to make the big squad sooner than later.
If he makes the roster he better get a LOT of playing time to continue his development. If he plays on the 3rd/4th line it’ll be a waste
I am glad I am not DW. I want to see him in the NHL. Plenty of reasons not to do that however. I would probably put with the Barracuda. Let him acclimate there and call him up from time to time. Maximize his opportunities to experience positivity rather than learning hard lessons in NHL games. We don't want to throw him to the lions.

I think it comes down to what’s best for his development. Not sure another great year in the SEL prepares him for the NHL. Let the kid play on opening night…he can always join the Barracuda if he needs more playing time in the season.
